SHS 6XL: Boost 11 freezes up Sonar will trying to load vst-plug in. 64 Bit System
Hi guys,
Just finally got around to changing my Sonar Home Studio 6XL over from 32 bit to 64 bit.
I was waiting on EZ Drummer to finally support 64 bit version which they finally have updated
their bitbridge.
Wouldn't you know it, EZ Drummer works great, so glad they upgraded.... but now every time I go to open
Sonar, it freezes while trying to load the Boost 11 VST-Plug in. After 5 mins it goes into Sonar but if I try to
open any sessions with the Boost 11 plug in, computer freezes until I go into task manager and close out the program.
I have removed the XL pack and re-installed it 2 times and no luck. All other plug ins work. Just not Boost 11!
Any ideas?

I don't know if Boost 11 is specifically 64bit capable or if the SHS6 bit bridge works with it or not. I assume you installed the SHS6 64bit version, right?

Hey Beagle,
I did install the SHS 64 bit version. What is weird is that the XL pack is only in 32 bit version.
All the other features of the XL pack, i.e: Dimension LE, show up but when I open a session with Dimension LE, the plug in doesn't work!

I wasn't aware of that (XL pack is only 32bit). when SHS6 came out, vista 64 was just coming out, so it's not surprising that everything doesn't work correctly.
there may be a work around if you're interested. there's some software called J-bridge that may be able to help with it. google it. it's not free, IIRC, but it helped a lot of other people in the sonar forum before X64 worked correctly with everyting.

Beagle, while I have you here, if you have another minute, I just looked up the Sonar updates page. They have an update for this problem. I downloaded the update. Which says "cannot locate the required SONAR version on this system. Please install the correct version to install this patch" Any ideas on this? Have you seen this before? I am registered with Cakewalk. I have installed the correct version. I'm lost.

you don't have Sonar, you have Sonar Home Studio, those are 2 different products. which update did you try to use?

I tried to use Sonar 6 Studio Edition. The only updates that are available are for Sonar 6 Studio Edition. I assumed being I don't see any support on the Cakewalk site for Sonar Home Studio 6 that these updates were for it. Good catch. Never thought about that.

yeah, that's why you got that message - it won't update SHS because it's only for Sonar Studio. AFAIK they did not make a patch for SHS6 which addressed your particular problem.
