SHS 7 w as working awesome, now nothing but static from Audiobox1818
Hi, Have been using my new system for a couple of weeks. Was working awesome. Better than ever before. Was working on a collaboration project that had 16 bit wave files and 24 bit tracks recorded in my studio. Everything was fine until I went to reload the project the next day. It came up with an error saying "There was a problem sending the command to the program" (with a big red x). When it did load it had corrupted files on the 16 bit tracks and inserted a blank waveform. The 24 bit tracks were still there. I reload the 16 bit tracks and again all was good. Saved. Next day when loading the project, I got this messsage: "Unexpected Error Code. hr: 2359296261, file: HRESULT: 3221225747". Now I get nothing but static. I thought it might be the presonus drivers as I have had problems with them in the past, but after re-installing them, had the same problem. Thought I would try the onboard audio, and was getting the same problem, nothing but static. Since the system still plays finished MP3's through the audiobox, I assume the problem is within SHS 7 itself. It is the 32 bit version, but am running it on a 64 bit system. The following is my system specs. (Not sure if tag at bottom of profile is working) Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H m/b, Intel 3770K Processor, 32 GB Patriot Viper Extreme 1600MHz, 4X1TB HDD setup in RAID. The Audiobox 1818USB is the only sound output from the computer that I use, although it does have VIA HD Audio onboard. If any further information is needed please let me know, and I will get it for you. Thanks for the help everyone. TheBadger

I did not know you could put 16-bit files with 24-bit files. Either the bit rate is 24bits or 16 bits, can't be both. With mine (audio/interface) it would be 24bit with ASIO drivers. I do use project files though, and done 54 tracks (audio) on my old computer, but it works on the windows 7 computer also to load up or play except when messing around with sound drivers or graphics drivers. You are way over my system, but did you know that Windows keeps backup drivers if you do not un-install them or install new ones over the old ones. All of them, for graphics or sound. I just deleted 6-7 RME drivers because they never had an un-install program with the drivers, but still after restarting the computer after each driver Windows loaded up after removing them phsyically out of Windows/system32 folder, i finally got down to - no drivers - Windows could not find any more and did not know what to do - which is what was needed to remove all the old drivers out of Windows 7. Same way with graphics drivers until you get back to Windows 7 installing the "Standard VGA" drivers and HD audio drivers that came from Microsoft and with Windows 7 when it first came out. Every version of drivers you maybe had put into your computer for sound or graphics or whatever perhaps. Then you install the new current drivers into your system either with sound or with graphics (or about anything). This may help - I just used it and it seems to work fine - the 2.5.9 whatever download unregistered version: http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.htmlRevo Uninstaller Pro 2.5.9 down at the bottom of the web page. Otherwise I do not know.

I can't speak to SHS but SONAR projects have no problem with audio files at various bit depths. The audio files do have to be the same sample rate. To the OP, try a google search for "Unexpected Error Code. hr: 2359296261, file: HRESULT: 3221225747" I suspect you will see a common thread running through the posts.

I guess I have never tried that so I do not know if bit depths have to be the same or not. ?? (as an import perhaps, but if recording the bit depth to me would be the same in the project - either 16 bit or 24 bit). ????? Now I think with Windows drivers perhaps different bit depths can be used, but since I use ASIO drivers that may not be so - that is all 24 bit at least to me.

This is a collaboration so I imagine the different interfaces may be recording at different bit depths. Or it could be imported files. Tough to say from the original post. The error message is associated with bundles.

I guess I have not used bundles in Sonar 7 maybe a long time ago on my XP computer maybe once or twice. I can not remember. There is the Help files in Sonar 7 (and I see you can mix different bit depth files in Sonar 7, however I get no use 64-bit double precession on the General tab of the Audio menu item in Options. Nothing there for me, maybe you need a 64 bit file wave first of all but not with what I use. Can't even find that much on Main faders (Master Bus) because the only templete I know to add that is opening a normal project file and deleting the midi tracks and I add audio tracks however many I need. Never did find out how to add a Master Bus, but other buses I can add by the ton I suppose, but can not add a Master Bus unless I use that template. ?? I need a new version of Sonar perhaps but other things keep getting in the way right now. And also XP was a better OS perhaps of drivers from RME than it seems to be with Windows 7. Windows 7 does things on its own, which you did not have to do in XP, like set a default playback or else Windows 7 does it whether you want it or not. Perhaps it is for WMP but really...........................for what i have XP seems to be better OS.

Hi Folks, You guys have brought up some interesting points. Our collaboration group likes to use bundles because it keeps all the files together, and reduce the chances of corruption (or so we thought). Our cloud account takes quite a while to upload seperate files which is also why we went with the bundling. Start the upload and then walk away, rather than having to wait to start the next file etc. The 16 bit wave files are imported into a project that has a sample rate set for 24/96, any live recording at my studio is brought into the project at the set sample rate. Never had a problem with this before. One thing I noticed that I did not include in the original post is that I had selected the "share drivers with other programs" box. The problem started shortly after that. I would think this would not cause the problem, but being new to digital audio, I'll throw it out to those of you with more experience in setting up pc audio systems. As far as the drivers go, I was thinking of reinstalling the OS and NOT installing ANY sound drivers. I would then install ONLY the presonus audio drivers. I will check out the driver removal program that spacealf recommended and post the results. If anyone has any specific questions answered that they think might help, I'll be checking the post fairly regularly. Thanks again everyone. TheBadger

I have found the reason I am losing my 16 bit wavefiles. It is because when I record the 24 bit tracks they are in mono, and under W7 there is a problem loading both mono and stereo wavefiles and when there is a conflict it loads the mono files only. Stupid, but can work around this. Now I just have to figure out why the sound crapped out. I think I am going to try a reinstall of sonar HS7. Cheers

TheBadger Our collaboration group likes to use bundles because it keeps all the files together, and reduce the chances of corruption (or so we thought).
Bundles increase the chance of corruption. A more reliable solution is working with per-project audio folders. This method creates projects in individual folders and places the audio in a folder directly beneath the project file. To create a single file for transfer to another machine, zip up the project folder. This method is much more reliable than bundles.

Well, ususally you can remove drivers by Windows 7 by getting up Device Manager in Control Panel (or by right clicking Computer icon on the desktop and choosing Properties then get up Device Manager). After doing that you go to your Sound Unit and look at the drivers page and see what version you have listed by Windows 7. Then you un-install the entire unit out of the computer and when the screen comes up, you check to un-install the drivers also. When you restart your computer, if you have other older drivers still kept in Windows 7, Windows 7 will automatically install those drivers, and you do the process over again, until Windows 7 can not find any drivers to automatically install. Just some things in Windows 7 are annoying to me at least in my opinion. Revo Un-installer can just look at your system and you can do all types of maintainence on the computer and check if any program was a program that did not un-install everything (which they always do) and delete it completely out of the OS system and computer. It cleans up the computer with various tools, although I can say if you do the HardDrive bit of deleting files so you can not ever find them again, it may take you a couple of days, because that will take a long time. Kind of a sparkly clean computer in a few days if you do everything. I could not wait to really clean up the harddrive by thoroughly deleting files instead of Windows 7 just marking them as deleted, but if I have some time I may try that even. It is all designed by Microsoft to make it seem as if the computer is faster, and it is just tricks in the end (like the harddrive really never really deleting files just marking them as deleted and the harddrive is used over again - of course that works, but then...................it is not sparkly clean on the harddrive then).

Hi Folks, I have figured out what was causing the problems. It didn't even have anything to do with the interface or cakewalk. It turned out it was a program I was using for my overclocking. DO NOT USE EASY TUNE 6 by Gigabyte. It corrupted a lot of things on my computer, and it does not handle the memory overclocking properly which screwed up everything memory dependant. Thanks for the help. Oh, and kudos to Spacealf for the suggestion of Revouninstaller. Cool program. TheBadger
