SHould have posted this long ago..

I never posted this before since I thought it would get fixed  but it persists even with X1b, so here ya go.

I have noticed that when I open my normal template, or any other, I am prompted to "save changes" even though I have made no changes! It doesn't matter what I do. I can open any song or template, make zero changes, and I am asked to save changes I did not make.

So, I guess I'm asking if anyone has seen or experienced this? Is this a bug?

Thanks!

As I recall, Sonar has always done that, if you press play or do anything other than open the project. This is when you close it, I mean--it doesn't prompt during.

This is without any editing. It ALWAYS asks me if I wish to save. Very small anomaly in the context of X1, but I did not have this in 8.x, so I am just wondering what the hell is up. I.ve been a Cake junky since '96 when I started using 12 tone and nothing remotely like this. Very strange, indeed. Thanks for your reply. Maybe nobody else has this issue?

Yeah, I have the same problem. In my case when I look at my history, I see that an envelope was created and I have the option to undo the envelope.  It doesn't happen in every single project.  I filled out a problem report and am waiting for instructions from the to send them a file that does it.  Please also fill out a problem report. This "bugs" the hell out of me, no pun intended.  I don't touch anything and an envelope is created.  The second I open the project, I see the asterisk next to the file name.  Like I said only happens on some projects.

metal and pinguin - have you changed the normal template from the original? I'm wondering if X1 has to alter something in older templates as soon as it opens them to be compatible with the latest version.

    Cheers, Peter.

    Hey Peter,
I have not. and this happens with existing projects and it's random.  as a matter of fact, I'm not 100% sure, but I think that a project that used to do it doesn't do it anymore and a project that didn't, does now. Go figure.

Weird. I don't remember this ever happening to me, but I'll look out for this behaviour now.

Another thought - do you automatically rescan for VST plugins? I wonder if this marks a project as changed if it finds a new VST?

And another one (I really should stop and do some work) - if you save a copy of normal.cwt, then when X1 prompts you to resave, do this and compare to the original (there are binary file comparison programs). I wonder if there is actually any change?

    Cheers, Peter.

I do not scan for plugins on start up.  Like I said, Sonar creates an envelope somewhere.  I see it in my history.

I have a VERY simple template and don't get that message unless I actually make a change.

There is an option somewhere in preferences to not load the normal template when Sonar starts. Uncheck that. I had the same thing and that's what I did.

Do you touch the edit filter on a track or bus? If so that could account for the envelope. If not please send us the template so we can try and repro it.

This may not be the OP's problem, but I had a similar situation a while back.   Turns out it was a bad cable or a dirty key on a keybaord - don't remember which, but in essence data was going in.

When I removed the (external) problem, that problem went away too.

I do not touch anything. The minute the project opens, an asterisk shows up next to the project's name and if I look in the history I see the option to undo "create envelope".  Tell me how to send the project without the wave files, etc., and I'll be happy to send it to you.  Thanks!

I notice this if I adjust the main volume (expected) or even play and pause at a location other than where the project opened and close the project there; not entirely unexpected.
