I'd use an external audio editor that can select either channel separately, then just load them in Sonar.

SIMPLY THAT!!

In Track View:
1) Select track to split
2) Select menu Tracks > Bounce to tracks
3) Select Destination > New Track
4) Select Source Category > Tracks
5) Select Channel Format > Split Mono
6) Click OK

Thanks Guys for both of your input,
I ended up using Soens' method to great affect.
Now I can move on with some serious editing.
Cheers ...........Frank
