SOLVED! Blank Plugin Windows?

Sonar X2 Studio - Zed 16R mixer - Sweetwater Creation Station

Not sure if this is a problem in Sonar or Waves, or just a file in general that's out of place, but...
I've purchased and installed several Waves plugins and they've worked beautifully.
The other day I loaded a plugin to the effects bin of a track and clicked on it to open the plugin's window. The window opened, but it was blank! Just a white box where the graphic is supposed to be. I ran audio and turned the effect on and off from the effects bin and could tell the effect was functioning, but I had no way to control it.
This doesn't happen every time, but when it does, I save and close my project, then I re-open the project file and the plugin loads without a problem...until today (as if THAT wasn't enough of a hassle!). I was forced, out of frustration, to finish up a mixing session, as I tried and tried to open a couple of effects I had loaded in a buss. Now, these had been opened and played with on another day, but today, all I could get were blank windows where the graphics for these effects should have been.
Any ideas what might be going on here? BTW - the very outside of the plugin's window, which includes the 'X' and Minimize buttons is visible - I can close and reopen the window, but it's still blank.

Seriously? Nobody has a clue? Wow. I haven't had the chance to open the project today, but if this problem becomes more frequent (and unresolved) my Waves plugs will be useless.

Hi,

I found this thread on the Gearslutz website :

There are a couple of possible solutions for your issue :-)

Hey, thanks! If only I understood what they're talking about - LOL!
I haven't downloaded anything new - no upgrades to anything. This just started all of a sudden for no apparent reason. I mean...if it works and there are no changes to anything, it should still work, right?
Most frustrating. I'll try to get in touch with Waves to see if they can offer any advice.

Yes it's a strange issue, especially if Windows update hasn't been tinkering with your system.

It may be worth trying the lastest graphics drivers anyway :-)

Where you pressed the helpful button there is also a best answer button. Edit the original post otherwise.

Eventually, with enough Waves plugins in a project, they will go blank again. The only permanent "fix" is to follow the instructions in this thread:

Re: SOLVED! - Blank Plugin Windows? 2015/09/28 15:26:17 (permalink)
Waves tech support suggested this when I had blank Waves GUIs.  I didn't update any drivers, although I usually run the most current.  I run the Intel HD 4000 onboard chipset, driver dated 12/12/2012, version 9.17.10.2932.

Try creating a text file here:  C:\ProgramData\Waves Audio
called no_context_sharing.txt.  You may have to manually create the folder if you have only activated waves via USB.  This fix was also posted in this forum in 2013 but didn't show up when I searched the forum.  I'm not listing it as solved because of the control center issue, showing nothing updated after I had downloaded and updated everything.  In the future I'll probably post each problem as a separate issue since part of this one is fixed.   I think the fix originated with Waves tech support related to multiple instances of plugins, like 32.  I only had 2 running but so far so good now.   On to a few Melodyne and AD2 licencing issues I had to fix last time because I was a previous owner prior to inclusion in Sonar

Windows 7 x64, Intel I7-3770K, Integrated NVidia HD4000, 16G Ram, Asus P8Z-77V LK, Intel Z77 Chipset, Samsung EVO 850 256G SSD,  Sonar Platinum with Braintree and Cambridge Release.  Initial machine build (fresh Windows 7 x64 Ultimate Edition) started as Sonar X2, upgraded to X3 and Platinum via subscription model, so X2 and X3 are still functional.  UAD Apollo Duo via Firewire 800 as audio interface, using Waves Gold and several separate Waves plugins authorized to USB, Slate Products authorized to iLok, XLN Audio AD2 and AD Keys,  AMP Sims: Amplitube 3, Scuffham, Guitar Rig, Peavey Revalver 4.
