<SOLVED> - Can't move or stretch transient markers
Hi, I'm editing a very simple multi-track drum setup, kick, snare and mono overhead. I have some slight timing issues to fix so thought I'd give AudioSnap a go. I've followed the following tutorial exactly : https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR%20X2&language=3&help=AudioSnap.11.html However, when I try and stretch the transient markers they either won't move at all, or will move a tiny amount (both forwards and backwards) - so I have to make many, many moves to fix a hit that is, say, a 32nd note out of time. At random, I'll find a drum hit that allows me to stretch the transient markers by any amount! Does anyone know what the hell is going on? I've tried turning snap-to on/off to see if that is causing any issues but no joy. Thanks, Mike

Other than snap being enabled at a higher resolution with 'Extreme' strength, the only think I know of offhand that will stop markers moving is if the 'stretch' of the region to an adjacent marker would exceed 25% to 400% limits. This can happen if you have 'false' positive transient detections and you're not zoomed in far enough for all of them to be visible. The link you posted is temporarily down, so I'm not sure what all you've done. If you used Merge and Lock Markers to preserve phase relationships without first eliminating duplicates across tracks, you could have ended up with a lot of very close markers that would constrain movement.

Brundlefly, you might be onto something here as I have noticed other transient markers appearing under the one I select...how does this happen? I really need this AudioSnap thing to work... Here's google's cache of the link I posted: Here's Google's cache of that page: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:IqvhYHbMb9cJ:https://www.cakewalk.com/...&ct=clnk&gl=uk

Okay. The key steps are these: 6. Select only the drum overhead track. 7. On the AudioSnap palette, set Threshold to 100% to ensure that there are no transients detected. This step is necessary because the overhead track contains audio from both the kick and the snare, and you want to make sure the kick, snare and overhead tracks are always synchronized when stretching beats. This is not clearly stated. The goal of disabling markers on the overhead track is to prevent it contributing duplicate markers when Merge and Lock is executed. If you did that, and still have duplicate markers after Merge and Lock, then I would guess there was enough bleed of the snare in the kick Mic or vice versa that you got some duplicate markers that way. You can use a combination of Threshold controls (each track can have a differnt setting) and manually enabling/disabling/promoting markers on the kick and snare tracks to make sure there's no duplication before executing Merge and Lock. It's also possible to have markers for 'false-positive' transient detections within a single track that need to be disabled.

It's also possible to have markers for 'false-positive' transient detections within a single track that need to be disabled. This was the issue! I have disabled the offending extra transient markers and can successfully move and stretch the audio. Many thanks!
