[SOLVED] DSF Hammond B3 add-on set for CSC not working in Sonar Platinum
Hi, Very new at posting, but a 5 year Sonar X1 Producer-Platinum user. I have a problem with some sounds with soft synth Cakewalk Sound Center in Sonar Platinum 64-bit. I can load the synth fine. I can play most of the patches fine, except for the DSF Hammond B3 add-on pack that I purchased while using Sonar X3 Producer 64-bit.. They worked fine in X3, but in Platinum, when I double click on any of the patches in this set, I get several error messages each time, with the title,"IDS_MULTISAMPLE_NOT_FOUND not found in text resource file". In the main part of each message are various sfz. file names, different in each error message. Then I get no output from the synth. If I then load a different patch, not in the B3 set, I get output again. BTW, I do not have any other add on packs installed in CSC. Any ideas what could be causing this? I appreciate any help. This is what I've done so far: 1. Installed Sonar Platinum 64-bit, including Cakewalk Sound Center, with X3 Producer still installed. 2. Realized the B3 patches weren't working, then uninstalled X3 Producer. 3. Reinstalled CSC and the B3 pack. This is where I am now, with the B3 sounds not working. Thanks, Mike

I have a similar problem using Artist. None of my DSF expansion packs are working with the same error message. I've pretty well done the same as Mike.

Thanks, Paul. This is the path for the sfz files. default_path=DSF Classic B-3 Samples\ That folder is in the same folder as the sfz files This is the full path for the samples and sfz files: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Cakewalk Sound Center\Modules\Multisamples\ Mike

next step then is to check if the referenced wav or flac files (in the sfz) are where they should be (in explorer) maybe another user/host/baker with the DSF packs installed could try & reproduce? (i don't have the dsf stuff myself) also you can try to open the same instrument in a different host (just to rule out host issues) hth, good luck!

Hey Mike, I have 4 expansion packs I couldn't get to work with the Sonar Artist, but managed to get them all up and running today. Here's what I did: My DSF expansion pack sfz files were all installed in a folder called c:\Dimension Pro\ and under that there were folders for each expansion pack. I determined that Cakewalk Sound Center was installing its own multisamples in this rather long folder name: c:\Program Files(x86)\Cakewalk\vstplugins\Dimension LE\Modules\Multisamples\Dimension Pro\ I copied everything in c:\Dimension Pro\ (including the subfolders with the wav files) into that folder. All of the expansion packs then worked. I then deleted the c:\Dimension Pro\ folder and things still worked. Mmm. I'm sure I will never be able to uninstall them without doing it manually. All the sfz files are now mixed in with the Sound Center sfz files. I had received a reply from DSF on where the samples should have installed and where to move them to but those folders did not exist on my PC. They certainly didn't install where DSF thought they should be. I don't know if that will work for you. I never had the folder C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Cakewalk Sound Center\Modules\Multisamples\ like you did. Something certainly isn't quite right with the way these install, that's for sure. Best of luck with it. Terry

With Terry's post as inspiration, after much trial and error moving the B3 samples around I finally got them to work with Cakewalk Sound Center. I moved the folder with the samples and sfz files to C:\Program Files|Cakewalk\Rapture\Multisamples\. They were originally in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VstPlugins\Cakewalk Sound Center\Modules\Multisamples. In Sonar Platinum, on the CSC synth property page I saw that the word "Rapture" was displyed and I thought that maybe that the location for the Rapture samples would be where I should try moving the DSF Hammond B3 samples to, and it worked.

This is the same thing I went through both times I installed the same pack I bought on sale probably when you guys did. It's just a stupid install badly done. I've never had to dig so deep to find a VST. I used the Windows search to find them. Then once I finally got them working was disappointed anyways. Last time I buy, the free ones are better.

I'm glad to hear that you guys got things running. After expressing my displeasure at DSF I received the following message: "Great to hear you have it all working, but the file locations on you system are not normal. Perhaps it has to do with Sonar Artist or a pointer in the registry. Best for you to contact CW and see what's up." Well, I have contacted Cakewalk on this but got no reply. Perhaps DSF should contact Cakewalk, since this is their bread and butter and they are partners. Just my two cents. Your are right Johnny, I bought them on sale. Terry
