[SOLVED] HELP PLEASE! Audio from existing tracks feeds into new tracks! Why?

I just set up a new Sonar Platinum system. It's been great for a month. Today is a nice sunny day, but still, in this little town the power went out for a few seconds. My recording rig was on at the time, but Sonar was not open. A few minutes after everything rebooted, I opened Sonar and began to attempt to track guitars, but when I make a new audio track and assign my inputs, even though I can see the signal from the mics, when I start to record, the audio from the other tracks is recorded onto the guitar tracks. I hear no guitar.

Also, when my guitar tracks have no audio on them and the guitar tracks are armed and I press play, the meters respond to the other audio in the project.

I just rebooted everything again (PC and interface) and set up a new project. I imported some wav audio drum loops and then set up guitar tracks. Same thing. The drums play and record on their own tracks and also on the guitar tracks.

I set up a drum bus and sent the drum audio to it, but that changed nothing as far as what I described here.

What is happening here and how do I correct it?

What you havn't told us is which audio interface your using. This is possibly the interface either via software mixer or internal mixer has gone haywire or back to a default setting becuase of the power surge.

I am using a brand new Universal Audio Apollo Twin usb.
Everything seems to be functioning with it. I can set my levels and see them in Sonar Platinum. The signal is being delivered.

Hard to say where the issue is.

The system is acting as though it is set up to bounce tracks onto my new tracks without me trying to make that happen.

That's why I asked, You need to go into the GUI mixer and check the signal path.
Sonar cannot re route audio from one audio track to another durring normal recording internally. Only an audio interface with a GUI mixer can do this so the issue is within the Apollo software.

I have 2 inputs on the Apollo Twin. I don't have another preamp connected to it. My inputs show my signal in the Apollo GUI and the when I choose those 2 inputs as my source in Sonar, they respond properly as far as I can tell. If I mute the drum tracks then I can record guitar. I can play back guitar. However, when I turn the drum mutes off, then I get the drum signal in the guitar tracks again.
I don't have another interface here to try.
Not sure what to do here.
I will try tech support I guess.

Well, not to disrespect the forum we're on, but have you tried another DAW? Y'know, just to see if it can track properly?

Hi. Have you tried to mute everything in your Twin mixing software, except the input you are recording?
Make sure that any "loopback" settings are turned off.
Or have it (Twin) go back to default setting?
I don't have a UA Interface, so I'm not sure how to do it.
Others may have much better advice for you.
    All the best.

It's going to be a routing problem where direction is being given to record it's just a matter of finding it.
The AI mixer pre-sonar could be doing it. Such as Focusrite can have an output number assigned to a track and that can be hard to find if not used to the way both interact. Or similar. Or a two or three deep routing chain within Sonar itself or in combination. Unless a corrupt file but usually there are also other signs in that case.

The Apollo software is not exactly transparent because you're dealing with a mixer inside a mixer, which multiplies the chances of a misrouting.

are the guitar tracks an Aux track or routed to an auxiliary track? Could it be a send from the drums to a bus that feeds into the same path as the guitars?

Like I said #$4   and I guess the OP is unaware of how to use the GUI mixer from the responce,  therefore the problem.

    Solved.
The Sonar track inputs were feeding from the Apollo monitor. Changed the settings. Problem solved. I don't know if was from the power outage or just a brain outage.
I have only had the Apollo a month. I have done a few projects though. No problems.
As it was I needed sleep badly last night but my new TC Electronic Sentry arrived yesterday and I decided to hook it up and track some guitars and then the power went out before I even opened Sonar and then the rest of the story happened. I think that if I just went to sleep early, the PC would have been off when the power went out and I would have just woke up to the flashing clock. No problems!

Thanks everyone for the input. Get it? Input.
Ha! Maybe I should go to sleep early tonight too.
