SOLVED: How do you totally remove audio from a track?

I split the section and then delete it but I then need to drag the end of the remaining clip so I cna get a reverb tail to continue, however every time I d this, the old deleted material re-appears?

Use the Apply Trimming function. Select the clip(s) and choose Clips > Apply Trimming from the Track View menu.
