[SOLVED] Mastering templates missing

Has anyone noticed that Sonar Platinum's mastering and mic, etc. templates are missing from the start screen? They are missing from my start screen. I have reinstalled Platinum twice since yesterday to see if they would materialize but to no avail! Any thoughts?

They do change the stock Sonar templates from version to version so its best to back up the ones you like so you'll have them in the future. Its done because of compatibility issues with versioning.
Nothing new.

Unfortunately, I don't have any backup. Have they archived anywhere?

I wonder if a rollback would lead to them?

Is there one in particular you are looking for ? Im on the latest update and I see them.

Here's a screenshot I just took 2 minutes ago using Platinum 2017.10

I click on "New project" From Template and I scroll down almost to the bottom and they are mixed in with the Master+Mix templates.
If they are not showing on your start screen, try going to where the templates are stored in:
C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR Platinum\Project Templates.

They are all listed in there as well.

Im going to be honest with you. I do a lot of mastering myself and I never use Sonars templates I create my own using much better plug ins and a much better Mastering chain (Waves, Brainworx, exc).

Missed it by one month; the last version containing the "Mastering Template" project templates was July 2017. Also as Chuck suggested make sure the Template setting in Preferences > File > Folder Locations points to the default location. If it is not set to the default location, the templates will have to be copied to the custom path.

I don't mean to change the subject here. But I was wondering if anyone might know how you can change the picture on the templates for the start screen? From what I understand it takes a snapshot picture when saving the template? Not sure about that, I was just wondering how you add a picture to them?

There is an automatic process for selecting an image from a library built into SONAR based on the template name. I have no details about the automatic process. There is a manual process I documented some time ago but have not tested it in some time. The size of the images changed a few releases ago so the manual process if it is still supported may use larger images.

Will that render the template...I don't need the icon

No, the icon reply was for Serious_Noise. In your case, either the templates are installed and your preferences are set to a different folder or the templates are missing from your PC and need to be installed from a version containing the files. Those versions are SONAR Hopkinton (2015-8) through 2017-7.

Looking at the .cwt and .cwp files, it looks like the image is stored as base64 pretty near the beginning of the file. The .cwp/.cwt file format looks like it comprises of a header followed by various data chunks. Each chunk starts with a chunk type id and a length, then the data (of the specified length) follows.

In theory it should be possible to copy the header and chunks before the image chunk, replace the image chunk, then copy the rest of chunks in the file to a new file.

I guess if you decoded the base64 data, checked the width/height/depth/format and just made sure whatever image you replaced it with matched what you found, this should work ok.

To do this though, you'd need some programming experience... and a fair amount of patience ironing out any issues.

I am not going to the trouble of hacking the files. Could not care less if the icons existed at all, just answered the post although I wish it was not in this thread as it has already confused the OP.

This is a perfect example of why we should wait until the OP straightens out his issue before asking questions of unrelated to his problems. He's been trying to figure this out for a week now.

To the OP- did you find the template directory in: C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR Platinum\Project Templates.
the mastering templates are listed/named appropriately.
