[SOLVED] Slate Digital and X1 not playing nice.
Until now I have to say X1 has been playing nice on my lappy and my DAW. Just purchased Slate's VCC and FG-X (not demos). On the lappy (X1) I can run 4 instances of VCC. After that snap, crackle pop. In 8.5.3 on the lappy I can run 5 instances pretty good. However in X1 and 8.5.3 If I also add FG-X to the master buss, no go. BTW, I'm using max samples on my Roland UA-1G USB Interface (ASIO). Now on to the DAW. In X1 (exact same project copied over to DAW), I cannot open the instances of VCC without SONAR crashing. Yet in 8.5.3, no problem. I only need 256 samples in ASIO on the DAW. The lappy is a 2Ghz duo core/2Gb and the DAW is a Q6600/4Gb. Both run XP Pro 32bit SP3 (I keep both machines current). Of course I will send this in to Slate but I thought I'd just post a heads up. Also, the weird thing is the lappy (2Ghz) is underpowerd for X1 yet I can run VCC and open instances where on my DAW I can't. Seems bassackwards to me. [SOLUTION] It was project based. When I start a new project this does not happen. Since I only have about 4 projects that are X1 based, I may just export all audio and start this project over.

Gee Baps, I am running 64bits and 12 Gigs memory but I'm still using the beta version of VCC (which the NEVE console doesn't work at all on BTW) and not 32bits but I can run scads of VCCs no probs. Must be a memory thing. True the FGX does sap the CPU. So much so that I only use it on my master buss. But the VCC is INTENDED to go on every channel and buss. That's very disappointing to hear. Hope Steven and the fellers get it straightened out. I'm sure they will. I love both pieces and was really looking forward to getting the finished version. Now I'm a bit worried.

Myol, Yeah in this project, I'm putting the VCC on 5 of my 11 tracks. FG-X is on the master buss. I was told by carl in the software thread that the VCC release has a bug and settings are not saved (which I noticed). Bummer. Supposed to be Tuesday or Wednesday for a fix. Can you say VCC1a? I am loving what the FG-X can do. I think that VCC is very subtle though.

Don't know if this will remain in the "final" final version but You may notice that if you have the VCC loaded on every channel and buss and you push the "drive" at all on any groups or faders you'll get a very subtle but noticeable hiss in silent parts...just like the real consoles. Oh, the crazy things we humans like.

hi folks.. this is from Sonar user Bryan K.. he got VCC working without issue: For Sonar 8.5 (64 bit) users..... You really should be installing All plugins in the 64bit OS folder system, for all plugins.....not just VCC. It doesnt matter if the plugin is 64 or 32bit, just install it under the 64bit OS folder tree. You must remember.....Sonar 8.5 has the bitbridge system that allows 32bit plugins in a 64bit platform/system. I have ALL my plugins in the 64 OS folder tree for ALL my plugins.....doesnt matter if they are 32 bit or 64 bit plugs......they all work fine for me. just food for thought...... I find it MUCH easier to do this, and create your own folder called "PLUGINS" under the 64OS folder, and install all your plugins there. This way.....you can direct Sonar to scan this single plugin folder whenever you have installed new plugins....instead of trying to have to scan all over your system trying to find things...

All in the 64 OS, really? Never heard of this before & never had a problem with the 100+ of vst's on my system, either x64 or x86, Waves included. Is there something about the VCC code that's needs it to change the way most install their plugins to make your software work?

The VCC is currently available for Windows VST (32bit plugin).. what is not available yet is Windows RTAS. As for the reason as to why the VCC likes to be in the 64bit OS plugins folder... I'll discuss with the program team. Hope you guys enjoy what the plugin does for you mixes! Steven

A new project did not do it. I think I'll just rebuild the project (it's only 14 audio tracks) and see if I'm good to go.
