[SOLVED] UA4FX gives me BSOD with official driver

Hi all folks!
I am getting mad with UA4FX drivers. Always been using it with XP and Vista64, then gave up with home recording and now i just bought Music Creator 6 to have some fun.
Switched to Win7 Pro 64bit and nope....card is recognized but only with Microsoft Drivers. If i try to stick the official driver from Cakewalk gives me blue screen of death...both on a 64 bit desktop and with a 32 bit notebook, still Win7Pro.
The problem is that there is NO WAY to let ASIO interfaces work with the windows generic driver, on the other side there is no way to install the official driver.
Did everything, custom GPO rule to avoid automatic installation, disables UAC, bla bla bla.
Nothing.....

Actually i just downloaded asio4all that seems to work but.....everything worked with XP and Vista  now nope...and it is a Cakewalk hardware on Cakewalk software, i mean....lol??

Any hint?
Thx in advance!

That really sounds like you're using the wrong drivers. Have you downloaded and installed the Win7 64 bit drivers for that device from the manufacturer?

Below is the link to the UA-4FX driver for Microsoft(R) Windows 7 64-bit Edition. This driver also supports ASIO (Steinberg Audio Stream I/O Interface).

Also make sure that the Advanced Driver Switch is ON. If it's off the device can only use the Windows Driver.

And if you make any changes to the device remember to unplug it and then plug it back in.

Hi Chappel and thx for your reply

it is the same driver i downloaded. The problem is the following (sorry for my english :P )
    i plug the card
    windows installs his own driver
after that i choose to update the driver with the official one
i browse fot the driver location until he finds the official .INF file
WARNING this driver is not signed pops out, install anyway? YES.....
    Blue Screen

The only thing i can try is to plug again, let windows install his signed crappy driver, execute pnputil.exe, find the signed driver, delete it from the system folder DriverStore, replug the card and try to force again the official driver.

But sounds really weird....couse googleing seems like it is happening to me only

One thing you can try is to NOT use the device as the windows default audio playback device. Use whatever built in audio interface, or soundcard, you have instead.

I only have a UA 3FX, so forgive me if this is nonsense.

Here I installed as per the instructions ie started the driver installation and then when the time came connected the Edirol device. Because the UA-3FX is a usb 1.1 device, I had to have the AMD/ATI usb filter driver installed on my AMD-based Win 7 64-bit laptop. Is the UA-4FX usb 1.1 or usb 2?

I've just been trying to sort out some faulty driver installation with a Tascam usb audio interface. I found that doing a search for setupapi.dev.log from the start button, opening it, navigating to near the end and then finding the relevant driver installation log was a source of helpful clues. This logfile can be huge, but Notepad eventually loads it. I don't know when the setupapi log is written, so don't know whether it will help with a crash during driver install, but it's worth a look.

I had some advice eventually from the writers of the Tascam drivers (not Tascam themselves who ignored me) and I removed all the earlier audio drivers both via the Device Manager option to uninstall and delete, then used the main uninstaller separately. Maybe something like this might help or give a clue.
