[SOLVED] Why are the note names on the keys offset by 2 in the PRV?
The note names on the keys in my PRV are offset by two. In other words, if I play a C3 on my hardware synth, it will show up as a C5 on the PRV. If I look at the keyboard in any softsynth (i.e. RealGuitar) it will correctly show a C3. So why is PRV offset? I have checked preferences and all the menues in PRV but don't see any options to set an offset. I've Googol'ed it, but couldn't find anything. Would appreciate any help. Walt

scook, as he is prone to do, gave you the wicked awesome and timely fix...
But just in case you were curious this is one of the few and unfortunate cases of where MIDI developers could not just standardize something.
You will find that different programs and/or hardware don't always use the same MIDI note for "Middle C". The difference is usually only +/- 2 octaves. So C0 will turn into C1 or C2 depending on the program/hardware.
The solution is to simply change the center note (C0) within the software or on the hardware and/or both to get what you need.
Just in case you ever run into this again.

Here's the rest of the story... I've known for years that the octaves were off by two but it was never a problem since I was looking mainly at the note and drum names. I recently bought RealGuitar (love it!) and the strokes have specific names for there articulation and have the map from the User's Guide that tells me what they are. Now that the Octaves are in the right place, it's easier to use. Thanks guys for the help! Walt

So because this is a global setting it will affect all PRV views. This may fix one synth's PRV but be off for another one. Right?
C0 is affected by three things:
1. "Base Octave for Pitches" in Preferences > Custom > Display
2. Pitch setting within the synth (which can also be different from voice to voice)
3. Pitch setting within Sonar for each MIDI track. (as displayed in the Inspector's right hand strip)
