[SOLVED, but worth a rant] WAVES license centre
Why is this so impossible? I have two plug ins (One knob louder and Linear Multiband). If I add a license to one plug in, the other becomes unlicensed. I can never get both running together. However I can get the state where neither are licensed at all. EDIT - Ok - done it now, but I don't know how apart from I uninstalled and reinstalled the two. I was tempted by Loair (any good?) but I daren't use any other of their products in case it becomes a three-way fight. jdf

WLC can get wonky at times when adding licenses.I own the Mercury Bundle and when a new plug comes out that I want to use and buy when I add it gets wonky..and then an uninstall/reinstall tends to fix it. If you are looking at LoAir( works well) and you have Splat Bark of the Dog works very well.Rbass (Waves) I love.Lowender(reFuse) is another one that works fantastically for low end information. All those have replaced my outboard DBX120A's( sold them).

When you run the Waves installer (woli) make sure all of your products have a check mark next to them, even if they have been installed previously. Rocky

Thanks guys. It seems a bit non - intuitive, but I'll have to live with it. Thanks also for the suggestions for low end enhancers. I've been trying a combination of Waves' linear phase comp with bark of dog, but I may try one of those enhancer plug ins, although sub - harmonic synths seem to me to be a bit lumpy and false. jdf

If I add a plug, I always D/L the latest licenser and check the boxes for everything to get a fresh install of the bunch. It seems to really reduce problems and it came right from Waves tech support.

I never use the online installer. I have about 20 or so Waves plugs, all purchased one by one. I have never had an issue with installing or licensing. Here is what works for me. Download the Offline installer. Run the installer and put a check by all the plugs you purchased. Complete the installation. Run the Waves licenser. (I keep all my licenses local, no iLock) Lastly, Scan plugins in Sonar. Be sure to put a check by (scan existing plugins). The way Waveshell works, you must rescan existing plugins for the new ones to show up. HTH John

I gave up with Waves plugins because of wonky license issues. I've bought a few on various deals but I got tired of having issues.
Since many don't have issues I wonder if there's something about my system that waves doesn't like. it's like waves licensing sees my computer as a different system because I end up with different names for the same PC during the course of a year.
When things go wrong it's not an intuitive system and its not stable for me

My box also suffered the woli syndrom, The Waves service team gave following hind : Make sure that the waveshell is read only once during the vst scan process, cause the waveshell 9.3 is the first waveshell not accepting other waveshells. That has been the matter for different license problems of my box, Haven t´been aware of the possible following location of the waveshell: c/user/name/appdata/roaming/waves/preferences regards

AAARRRGGGHHH Tonight neither plugs are licensed again. Waves are good in following up (they sent me a "looks like you're having trouble ..." email). Then I got a chat with tech support. They tell me they don't support Windows 10 yet, and move the licenses to USB, which I have; done a complete uninstall / reinstall, license by USB ... we'll see how that goes. jdf

I own about 10 Waves plugins, and it's getting harder each time I buy a new plug to remember each and every plugin that I have, in order to check each one in the installer. If Waves doesn't make an installer that can automatically recognize the existing plugins that we already have, I may forgo buying any new Waves products for a while. That being said, I do like and use the plugins that I have. I think CW may have Waves beat with their CCC, which does recognize my current status.

Same about me, with every new purchased plug of Waves I get more issues, but in my case it could be a 32 vs 64 bit prob (different projects and Sonar versions ). regards

No problems here. Using WOLI all my plugins are listed & checked. If I ever want to remove a plugin I uncheck it. If I want to add one I check it. To update I don't need to do anything, just hit 'next' & they all get updated automatically.

Yeah, I only had one problem, and I sent Waves an e-mail. They responded in 15 minutes and had me going again. I think the trick is to install a new installer each time you buy a plug in.

This is why I abandoned Waves altogether. I've got maybe 8 of their products. All are currently installed, but I will not use them in new projects nor will I buy any additional plugins from them. I don't even bother with freebies and "no brainer" deals. A paying customer shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to use a purchase, and it shouldn't just stop working out of the blue. Back when Waves offered things nobody else had, the aggravation might have been justified. But nowadays there are very few items in their catalog that can't be matched by another vendor with more reasonable copy protection and more consumer-friendly upgrade policies.

I have an use WAVES plugs all the time. I actually like the new license center thingy. It's always been easy peasy for me. Much more stable than the iLok license center. Like others have said above when you get a new plug just download the latest WOLI...make sure all your existing plugs AND your new one(s) are ticked (your existing plugs should already be ticked...mine always have been) and install. Then make sure Sonar scans the new waveshell. Really it's not rocket science. Don't make a "hoop" out of a molehill:-)

I personally loved the WOLI....it was a breeze...
I just got tired of the WaveShell issues...I simply don't understand why a plugin needs a "container" to run...they should stand on their own... like the vast majority of other plugins...
But now we do have VMR from Slate...another type of "container"...
I don't care much for having a plugin to run a plugin....IJS...

Waves - one either loves them or hates them. I've done a non-standard location Waves install ever since W9 and even that works flawlessly for me. I don't feel I have to jump through hoops with Waves, any of my iLok based software or auth files that need to be installed in any number of different places (along side of the dll or in My Document etc.) IOW haters gonna hate.

Jerry, I had a similar problem a while back. If it helps, here's the transcript of my to and fro with Waves Technical Support which got me up and running. *************************************************************************** I own R-Bass, CLA Signature Series and TrueVerb.Since I purchased and installed TruVerb about a week ago, I now find that every time I boot up my PC and launch SONAR, none of my Waves plug-ins are available. The only way I can get them back is to uninstall them and then reinstall from the woli.exe I downloaded. *************************************************************************** Thank you for contacting Waves Tech-Support. When running the Woli on a PC, on the product check box list, you need to make sure that all your plug-ins are checked in the list. Unchecking a plug-in from the list would uninstall the plug-in. At this point, do you have all your plug-ins available? ***************************************************************************I have purchased the following Waves plug-ins:> Renaissance Bass> Chris Lord-Alge Signature Series> TrueVerb I purchased TrueVerb about a week ago, and prior to that, I had never experienced any problem whatsoever with R-Bass and the CLA VSTs. I downloaded the Waves installer and followed the instructions to install TrueVerb on my system. It then worked perfectly inside SONAR, as did R-Bass and CLA (I have numerous instances of these plug-ins on every project). However, when I next booted up my PC and opened SONAR, I received warning messages that all my Waves plug-ins failed to load. A typical warning states: I receive the same message either when I try to load a Waves VST, or when I try to open the UI of a Waves plug-in already inserted into a project. After I close the message above, I receive this error message: I could understand these messages if I'd deleted or moved the WaveShell dll from my VST folder, but I've done neither. In fact, SONAR completes a VST scan on start, and when I check my VST Manager, all the Waves plug-ins are listed as available. However, in my Layout, these plug-ins are there, but are all greyed out. The WaveShell-VST 9.3_x64.dll is sitting there in my VST folder, but SONAR just isn't seeing it for some reason. The only way I can get them back again is first to delete them all and then reinstall them again from the 9.3 installer. This is the process I go through, in case it help you fathom this out:Using Windows Programs and Features, I uninstall "Waves Complete V9r20" to completely remove it from my system.I run a VST scan in SONAR to ensure it hasn't found any remnant of the Waves plug-insI run the installer: "woli.exe" (making sure to Run As Administrator)I select "Version 9" from the options availableI allow "Waves Complete" to be installed to C\Program Files (x86)WavesI select my VST folders as the destination for the WaveShell VSTs (as I can't see any way to prevent the 32bit version installing, I allow it to install to my 32bit VST folder, even though I never scan this folder)On the Select Products screen, I select: Waves License Centre; CLA Artist Signature Collection; Renaissance Bass; and TrueVerb - and then I click Install.I open SONAR and all the Waves plug-ins are working again. I'm guessing I must have done something incorrectly when I added TrueVerb to my system, as my other Waves plug-ins had been running flawlessly before. *************************************************************************** You did everything as you should. I assume this issue is caused from some left overs in the registry from former Waves install. Please try this workaround: Note: If you have created your own presets, saved to a preset menu, please drag the 'Plug-ins Settings' folder, located at C:\Users\Public\Waves - to your desktop. Also, if you have any saved IR impulses or presets - drag the IR1Impulses, IR1Impulses V2 and Acoustics.net Impulses folders located at C:\Program Files(x86)\Waves\Plug-Ins to your desktop as well. After the new installation, drag these folders back to their original locations. 1. Go to Programs& Features and remove anything of Waves. (Start > Settings > Control Panels > Programs& Features) 2. Go to Program Files(x86) and delete Waves folder. (C:\Program Files(x86)\Waves) 3. Go to the Start Menu > Search > "for all files and folders". Search for the term "Waveshell". Delete any Waveshell file your system finds. 4. Go to Stat menu>Run. Type in %appdata% it will open the following location: C/Users/Current User/AppData/Roaming inside this location delete the Waves or Waves Audio folder. 5. Download the V9r18 plugins installer from this link 6. Run the V9r18 installer in the welcome page (the first page you see) select “Uninstall” (this will hopefully clean the registry) 7. When done try again the Woli V9r20 to install your plug-ins, exactly like you did before Let me know how it goes and if you need any further assistance

Hi Steve, thanks for the detailed workaround. I'll give that a try at the weekend. Waves man said my Windows10 was an issue, and that their licensing doesn't support it yet. It works Ok if I use the licenses from a USB - not ideal, but I'll try your method anyway. The other thing is that I don't think I'll be using OneKnob Louder, and at the moment I'm not at the stage where I'd use the Linear Phase Comp - I only got it a few weeks ago to see how those things work, and it'll take me some time before I'm confident I'm not doing more damage than good with it. Cheers and thanks Jerry
