There are two sources of latency, the audio interface and plug-ins with look-ahead buffers such as convolution reverbs and dynamics processors. To reduce latency, reduce the buffers used by your interface and/or remove latency inducing plug-ins until you are through tracking.

BTW, you really should be posting in the X1/X2 forum. This forum is for older versions of SONAR. In this case, the fix would be the same regardless of the DAW software.

Yes.  The culprit turns out to be the dynamic processor, Transient Shaper.  The look-ahead was too much to handle, apparently.  Thank you so much, now I can go back to finishing my projects.
