SOLVED: "Motorboating" (?) with Rapture
Hey guys! I have enkountered a problem with a new projekt: The projekt kontains only two instrument trakks, both running Rapture (x64). One is playing a drum kit, the other a bass line. Each time I play the "song" it will run for a few measures before the program bekomes unresponsive akkompanied by a loud konstant whirr from the audio engine (I'm not kompletely sure if this is what used to be kalled 'motorboating' way bakk when, but anyway...) The 'Now time' keeps moving and the kontrol bar reads "Reset Button" but nothing else happens until I kill SONARPDR from inside Task Manager. The projekt kontains only these two tracks and note, wheel and modulation events. No other FX. Any tips? I'm running X1D Expanded (x64) under Windows 7 btw. Sven P.S. When I logged on just now the "Verification" letters read 'EL84', which is kinda kool...

Does upping this setting help? Options - Global - Midi and Prepare Using N Millisecond Buffers--This option lets you specify how far in advance SONAR prepares MIDI data during playback. The default is 500 milliseconds. Motorboating was big about 3-4 years ago but you don't hear it about it much nowadays. Check all your soundcard settings are normal. No idea really. It could actually be the sound of a patch in Rapture!

I also altered this once when something was playing wrong. I can't recall which one but hey there's only two. Options - Project options - Other Options: Zero Controllers When Play Stops--If you choose this option, SONAR sets the controller values of the pitch wheel, the sustain pedal, and the modulation wheel on all 16 MIDI channels to zero. It also sends a "zero all continuous controllers" MIDI message which turns off other continuous controllers on newer synthesizers. If you experience frequent stuck notes when playback stops, try checking this option. Patch/Controller Searchback Before Play Starts--If you choose this option, SONAR finds and sends the most recent patch changes, wheel events, and pedal events before starting playback. This way, all settings are correct even if you start playback at an arbitrary point in the project.

Thanks for the tips, Strikingly! Tried playing with the settings you suggested, but to no avail! Tried to change patches inside Rapture, but it still happens on almost every playbakk and the kontinous noise burst doesn't sound like it komes from the synths... Rapture seems to work fine in other projekts though.

Not sure what advice I can provide, but are you a member of either Native Instruments or the Bloods gang? I notice both groups do not like to use the letter "C" By the way, I am only kidding, I imagine this has something to do with your native language. :P

There's nothing else to freeze in this projekt, only these two trakks!

Make sure you're using Rapture 1.22, which is the latest version and fixed a number of bugs. SP

I was sertain I had updated everything after my Windows 7 install some months bakk... Thanks Seth, and shame on me for overlooking the obvious!

Cakewalk to the rescue. I cannot believe I didn't recommend making sure you have the latest version lolz.. When I said to freeze tracks one at a time 9in case you had others) is to be sure you narrowed it to being rapture. You did that, which is a big help in trouble shooting of course. Lance

Hey it's only the second worst Rapture mistake. A few years back there was an enormously long thread trying to solve 'no sound in Rapture' and they hadn't loaded a patch.
