[SOLVED]MIDI delay compensation over compensating on external synth

For some reason tonight when I record an external midi synth using a midi track in X1, the audio is being played too early. On mere playback it is in time......so what is setup differently for when i record than when I playback?

What settings should I look at?

Can you explain how it is played early?

Well all I can say is that when I just play (playback only), the midi track plays the external synth in time with the other tracks but.....
when I go for a take (in record mode) , the audio plays back early relative to all the other tracks...

I think MIDI delay compensation must be doing something different in record than playback.

Are you using the LP64 Multiband compressor? I found that to mess with my midi timing. If it is on try deleting it from the tracks it's on. See what happens then.

Lots of delays like reverbs add latency. You have to be careful with that. There should be delay compensation though, unless you have it bypassed.
