*SOLVED*Sonar Platinum Recording with MIDI lanes can't hear previous take

I've got a synth that I want to record two performances with. I'm playing a higher part on lane 1 and recording lower bass notes in lane 2 afterward. Sonar will not allow me to record a new performance within the same synth track on a new lane without muting the previous performance. I'm coming off of X1 and that allowed me to record multiple MIDI clips just fine in the same synth track. It was quite useful as I could take certain clips with notes and move them to different areas of the song without some of the other clips. I changed the recording option to Sound on Sound, but I'm still not hearing the previous MIDI performance in lane 1 when I'm recording lane 2 and I need to hear it. What can I do to get back to the behaviour I'm used to?

I could create a second synth and record that way but that's just a waste of memory.

EDIT: Ah, I never thought of just making a second MIDI track that outputs to the same channel of the same synth. A little messier, but it works exactly like I need. It's still strange why Sound on Sound recording still mutes previous MIDI take lanes in the same track, though.

If you expand Take Lanes for that first track, are any of the clips themselves muted?

I didn't look at this earlier because it already said *solved*. But in case the OP checks back, I'm guessing the issue is due to arming arming take lanes instead of the parent track. If you arm the parent track you'll hear previously recorded tracks in sound on sound mode. But arming just the new lane to be recorded mutes other lanes regardless of the record mode.
