{SOLVED}X1a projects not loading in X1b...
I have an album that I did a next to final mix for a client in X1a and none of the projects are loading in X1b. Basically Sonar stops responding and hangs in the memory. All of these songs have frozen synths that were EQd/Compd with ProChannel AFTER being frozen. Wondering if that's the issue. Anyone else having X1a project loading issues? All of my 8.53 projects have frozen syths with sonitus EQ enabled on them. Thanks to all!

I did not see any problems like this moving from X1a to X1b or any of the hotfixes. give us more details about your system - OS? bit version? which sonar version and bit version?

In safe mode, it will load if I say no to all. Of course, then all of my EQ/FXs are not there. If I say yes to each one individually (FX) then after the last one it hangs and system has to be re-booted. Wondering if it's related to the change in X1b of the PC freezing with the track. All of my projects have synths that are frozen down during the tracking and arranging part then eq/comp/fx are added to the frozen tracks. (described in 'prochannel won't enable on frozen synth tracks') My X1a projects have frozen synths that had pro channel enabled after the synths were frozen (like done previously in 8.53 with sonitus eq). Help! I'm expecting the final list of mix notes any day now and I can't even pull up the mixes that I had tweaked to almost perfection. (I know, I should have gotten right the first time.... :)..)

that's possible, I haven't opened any projects from X1a in X1b with frozen synths. if you have problems with it, however, why don't you just roll back to X1a? you can do that by using the windows restore point from right when you installed the X1b update.

I disabled system restore a long time ago, so I might have to un-install and re-install up to X1a just for this album, then it's back to just 8.53....

I'm curious about that as well. System restore has save me so many times, I can't imagine running without it.

In safe mode: This may take a bit of time, but why don't you start by saying "yes" to the first, then "no" to all the next plugins. If it loads up okay, exit SONAR and start it up again in safe mode, then say "yes" to the first and second and "no" to the rest, and so on. That way you can pinpoint which plugin is causing you pain. It could also be a "re-authorisation" issue with one of the plugins and you cannot see the authorisation screen behind SONAR - in which case minimise and take a look. (And of course re-authorise the plugin). Some plug-ins don't like system changes (although I've only encountered this with hardware changes). HTH. Good luck. Edits: Spelling !

For this project it was all Cake plugs except for some Vienna Suite (which has never caused me any trouble) Worked fined (aside from the X1a bugs and lack of audio snap etc.) for 1st and 2nd mixes. Sent off second mix and then updated to X1b hoping to eradicate the funky prochannel behavior and get audio quantize working etc. Can't open any of those X1a projects. don't have any other open Sonar screens (authorizations etc.)... Thanks for your suggestions! One effect at a time could take a while as the Pro-channel stuff loads separately, I may try that if I have time. I really need these mixes the way they were as they were already super close to approval...

sonartist may have a good suggestion. but I also suggest that for the future you re-enable system restore. there's no "audio tweak" reason to have it off, IMO. system restore only creates a restore point when you install software and doesn't do anything to your data, so it's perfectly safe for audio work and will help in instances where you've installed some software you need to roll back.

Blogman, Beagle is right, you should re-enable SysRestore on all "SONAR-used" discs + OS. I made a restore point today before installing Build 245 - it only takes a minute of so, and has saved me a few times in the past. Assuming that Cakewalk plugins would work, you could try enabling all the Cakewalk ones in one go instead of going thru' one by one. If you can't open your project(s), then at least you'll know which side, "internal" or "external" to Cakewalk the problem lies. Just a thought.

Blogman An audio computer tweak...wasn't giving me any trouble. i know what your thinking about system restore..you can save on some memory if you turn it off..lets put it this way.its not enough memory to save you the headache youll get by turning it off..you really dont save much..unless your saving 10-15 restore points..if i were you id set system restore to save three points..that wont use hardly any memory/cpu.

Yeah I think that tweak had come from the XP era and I just did it automatically when I converted that desktop from XP 32 bit to WIN 7 64 bit. I do have system restore turned on for my i7 Rain livebook studio. I'll turn restore back on my C: drive on my desktop before re-installing X1a.

Turns out, after installing X1b, my Auto-tune EVO plug-in setting 'use jbridge wrapper' had become unchecked. Sonar X1b still hangs with Auto-tune EVO unless wrapped with jbridge. (unless used on clips or tracks less than 1 min 30 secs) never unchecked that setting though....(doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo......) Thanks for all of your help! You aren't ALL troll hunters. :)
