susie_temp I am using the 60 day trial to decide whether to upgrade from X3 Producer and have downloaded the new Platinum update. It seems to have a bug in the new version which wasn't there in the old one (or X3 Producer). Drag a MIDI file into Sonar with nothing else loaded. Add Cakewalk TTS-1 (MIDI Source, First Synth Audio Output). Select all the MIDI tracks and then click on the Tracks drop down and "Selected Track Outputs...". Under MIDI outputs it should show Cakewalk TTS-1 and my MIDI interface but the list is empty. Also note that Cakewalk TTS-1 is available on each channel's individual output selector.
Also the new version is now finding 209 plugins (was 258 and still is 258 in X3 Producer).
Check preferences to make sure all your appropriate plug-in folders are being scanned.

Dear Cakewalk -- please bring back the crossfade tool to the parent track. This should be your top priority for improving work flow. Second would be to bring back the envelope selection shortcut menu when right-clicking the parent track. Third, please fix the bug where automation randomly stops being read, requiring the project to be closed and reloaded. This bug has existed since V8.53.

Not sure what to tell you about the TTS-1 issue, you may want to let Sonar make a new AUD.INI rather than importing your settings from X3. However, the plugin count question is a fix that was put into Platinum during the middle of last year that stopped counting certain plugins more than once. I always knew my plugin count was too high, but never bothered to validate it because the plugins I wanted to use were all visible. Regards, Dan

Thanks Anderton and dcumpian, I probably didn't make it clear that Sonar X3 Producer and the trial of Sonar Platinum both worked identically and correctly with respect to this issue. It was only when I updated the Platinum trial to version 2016.03 yesterday that these problems started.
So these issues are new with version 2016.03 and weren't there for the previous version. The settings imported from X3 by the initial version of the Platinum trial worked fine and the problems only surfaced when going from Platinum (2016.02 I'm guessing) to 2016.03 using command centre.

Latest Command Center still fails to download Sonar for me. Just quits downloading. No reason, no loss of connectivity, it just sits waiting on more, or gives up without timing out. There's no resilience or apparent connection intelligence built in, it seems. Downloading from the store.

I believe you need to run the Platinum Instruments upgrade to see the new AAS synth.

FWIW, CCC includes separate download/installers, so the one named "SONAR" (which also expands to display other sub-installers) won't include all plugins.

1- Where is the Melodyne tempo detection video link ? _ BTW I tried the technique, and even after slicing the audio at the count in, still, it did not work at all. I used a single bassline performance and the detection was useless. it worked for about 8 measures and then craps out. Any suggestions. I was really excited about this. I have a disk of Carol Kaye performed bass lines for about 20 songs but they're not "clicked in" to any BPM. They're useless to record with. 2- Where is the new "help module" ? I cannot find it. Thanks guys

I can't help much with # 1 since all of the clips I've tried worked well, just be sure the clips aren't Looped or using AudioSnap. For # 2, you can use the "Y" shortcut key to open the Help module.

The track is just the bass line for a "whole song" and maybe that's why. Maybe this is only supposed to work with short 1 and 2 measure performances. I could try and cut the song up into sections but now we're taking a whole lot of work. I had high hopes for this. too bad. I must say the upgrade to this product is way expensive for what it will do compared to the version I "up graded to" originally. I paid the upgrade for Melodyne editor and now that 4.0 is out they want another 100 bucks to upgrade. Really ? I could've stayed with the original product from Sonar, not upgraded then, and now still have all the features I use. The extra features in the new version is NOT worth the 100 bucks at all.

Is Melodyne available via the Region FX menu? If not, you may not have the VST3 version installed.

Have you tried the Sonar tempo map building? I have only done it once or twice, and seem to recall it being part of Audio Snap, though others I am sure would be better able to guide you. I used it to build a tempo map for an entire imported MP3 file, and it worked great for the whole thing, building in the multiple tempos it detected, and inserting the tempo changes to the project to match those imported tempos. Would that work for what you were trying to do with those bass tracks? Bob Bone

Andrew Rossa [Cakewalk] We are pleased to announce that the SONAR 2016.03 is now available for download via Command Center. This update includes features targeted for both new and existing customers. Whether you’re new to SONAR or a power user, the new in-app Help Module will get you working faster and more efficiently than ever before. In addition we’ve added a new synth from A|A|S, the much-requested Melodyne Tempo Detection, and more fixes and enhancements. Learn more about the new update Read the official ezine (written by Craig Anderton)
I download the installers for manual installation - so that I can put Sonar on a drive other than the C drive. Typically since Craig and the bakers have started including an ezine you've included a section explaining what to download manually for those of us not using the Command Center. That section is not in this ezine. I would like to know what to install. Can someone please enlighten? Thanks!
Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

Great update, but there might be a problem with the new AAS analog synth. I have tried it twice, and every time it has frozen SONAR after exploring some presets. I was trying some presets, switching fast to other banks and/or sounds and then there was no sound anymore, then SONAR stopped responding and I had to close it manually. And when SONAR freezes, I always have to reboot my PC because it is impossible to launch the program again.
