SONAR 7 CRASHED

I recently bought a new laptop (a dell xps) and installed Sonar 7xl on the new laptop -I had previously downloaded it to another laptop. When I was recording on the new laptop, the computer crashed a few times -this never happened when I recorded on my other laptop. I checked the computer diagnostics and it stated that it had stopped to do a bugcheck.  Does anyone know what happened here? I have a guide book to the sonar 7 and it does mention that sometimes when the programme is downloaded the software does not download correctly. Would I need to download the programme again? Can anyone help?

Where did you download it from? I don't believe Home Studio 7 was available as a download, but I could be wrong. Do you have the original disks?

This puzzles me too. HS7 has not been available for over a year, and before that I don't think you could download it. In that case, there could be a bug in the downloaded version, 'cause it's not legitimate.

But as Dave already mentioned, we both may be wrong, so please correct us, Sonar7User.

I find it strange that the PC stops in the middle of recording to do a bugcheck.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

You are both right (I shouldn't have said 'download'). I installed it with the original disks -I had to use a serial number as well. The problem remains though. Why did the PC suddenly crash? Perhaps I could use the cakewalk problem reporter to see if they know what went wrong?

    What's your operating system?
How much memory does the new computer have versus the old computer?
What other programs are running? Start SONAR and open the Task Manager to see what's running.

Usually crashes are due to your soundcard drivers. Without more info about your setup, I can't help you.

The laptop has 8GB of memory -the old laptop had 2GB.  The soundcard is a cakewalk UA-1G USB audio interface. The operating system is windows 7 (64 bit). The processor is an intel core i5-3210 processor (2.50 Ghz with turbo boost uo to 3.10 Ghz). I am also using a M-audio oxygen 49 midi keyboard.
When I opened sonar and looked at the task manager it lists the following things that are running: Cakewalk audio interface; sonar home studio -internet explorer; sonar home studio 7

Make sure you download and install all the SONAR updates and patches, and the driver updates for the UA, and the keyboard, too, if it's connected with USB.
Use the ASIO Driver Mode for the UA.
You may have to right-click the SONAR icon and set it to 'Run As Administrator'. Do the same for the executable file on your hard drive. When right-clicking the icon, you may get an option to 'Troubleshoot Compatibility'. Click that, too, and the computer will try to select the best settings to run the older program.
