No response to my inquiry about CAL. Am I the only one who thinks this is important? Anyone have any info about whether CAL is still supported in Sonar 7? thanks!

Possibly The Fastest $179 I've Ever Spent I was one of those people who was complaining about MIDI when Sonar 6 came out. Looks like I have less to complain about now. With that and all the other improvements and goodies S7 includes, it took less than a minute for me to place my order.
Enjoy the time you've got, because it's all the time you get.

Yeah we will just have to keep a look out, I think they should have given it to us for free, to only give it out to people in September kind of sucks but its all good as long as they hook us up. It would have been nice if they would have given like 3 months or something you know. Anyways however we get it it will be worth it.

As a matter of fact, I was in the same boat, bought S5 about two days before the deal started. Cake gave me the upgrade special price.

Maybe - just maybe... If not, it wouldn't be the first time I was standing on the dock while the ship headed out to sea. Ah, well. At least I've been having fun with it for the last month and a half.

Wow, this is an awesome-looking feature set. Sidechaining, improved MIDI, mastering tools and a whole lot more! I'm still on a woefully-underpowered Sony Vaio laptop running HS6XL. All I need to do now is decide whether to get a meaty PC or a Mac. Anyone know how well this will run in Bootcamp on an Intel Mac? The marketing blurb suggests that can be done.

So what's the difference between Rapture and Rapture LE? I don't know if I would be happy with Rapture LE or if I would still want the full-blown Rapture.

Hmmm... why would someone care about being able to burn CDs within Sonar? Most people have a separate app for this already, no? I must admit, I don't 'get' most of the new features. I'd be happy if they just fixed a bunch of bugs. Speaking of which, I'd love to be able to see Friendly IO names show up in track view. Wonder if this bug is fixed?

Yeah people have other cd burning apps but why go through the trouble and time of doing it with something else when you can do it all in one program. i think its pretty sweet.

I've got the same issue. I buy the upgrade each year, and it looks like some great enhancements; But I've already bought Z3TA+ , Dim Pro and Rapture. So repeating it or having LE's in the way doesn't help me much. But I do like the side-chaining and the MIDI enhancements. So, I'm stuck for the first time, and I don't know whether to upgrade or not. I sure wish I got some kind of credit for all my purchases, not just what version of Sonar I have (6). Bob Metivier

Just ordered mine!!!!! AudioMIDI has the competitive crossgrade (to studio) for $189!!!! Since I got both Cubase LE and Sonar LE with my E-MU USB 0404, I could have done either upgrade or crossgrade... so it seems you're better off if you're not cakewalk customer. :-) Just kidding... I can't wait to get S7 - I haven't drooled this much over a purchase since I was a little kid!!!! And judging from the reaction on the Cubase forums, looks like I won't be the only one running for the crossgrade! Well done, Cakewalk - you make me proud to be a fellow Bostoner. :-)

Compact Discount ORIGINAL: madfloyd Hmmm... why would someone care about being able to burn CDs within Sonar? Most people have a separate app for this already, no? Yes. Several, in fact, in my case. Heck, Windows Media Player does it. I'm not buying S7 for the CD features. HOWEVER, this capability is a definite plus for me because when mastering a song, I like to knock out test CDs and run them around to different stereo systems (including my friend's entertainment center, a boombox and the sound systems in my two vehicles) to see how they'll sound in different environments. Being able to do this directly from Sonar won't change the world, but it will be quite handy and I'm glad they added the capability.
Enjoy the time you've got, because it's all the time you get.

I've been away from the forums a while, but on returning to the Cakewalk website was pleasantly surprised to see the Sonar 7 PE feature list. Result - Without a second's hesitation I immediately placed my order, about ten minutes ago Kudos Cakewalk. Brendan.

What does the "integerated step sequencer" mean in implementation. Does it replace Session Drummer 1 in the sense that one can have a drum track running in the background either with or without looping/recording, synced in tempo to the (recording) audio track (eliminating copy/paste MIDI measures? That is, is it an intelligent click track (among other things)? I'm not exactly how it works (I can already program a MIDI measure and copy/paste it)? Thanks, Chuck

I think its meant as another way of inputting notes. Good for people coming from the roland TR-X0X/groovebox style programming methods. Very intuitive way of programming electronic music.
