SONAR ARTIST - NO WRITE ENABLE FOR INDIVIDUAL BUSES?

This is a repost, I picked the wrong place the first time because I can't read!

Hi Everyone,

I am admittedly a relative newcomer to Recording Software but I did a search and found nothing related to this
problem. I had been using X1 LE for the last two years and just upgraded to Sonar Artist.
I am working on remixing all of my old material and have reached a stumbling block.
I always record two vocal tracks simultaneously for various reasons. In X1 LE, I was able to use Write Automation for
individual tracks and buses, but in Artist, I don't seem to have that capability. There is no Write feature for the
Buses. There's a button, but it doesn't do anything even though it appears to be on. And right-clicking the bus
shows the option of Read-only.
This is going to be really annoying---why would Cakewalk remove this feature?
And if I am missing something, please tell me.

I just tried on master bus - and from console view.
Write turns red, made some playback and moved fader
    turned write off
ran and fader follow what I did

Rightclick menu though have these things disabled - don't know how that works.

But I run 21.1 which was released on friday.

So check you got updated as a first thing.

    Thanks for the reply.
I did try an re-write the automation to no avail.
I'm thinking part of the problem is that there's already an automation
on the vocal tracks. But I can't 'see' the automation in the new software
and I can't remove, delete or disable it without deleting the entire
    track.
I can re-do the vocal tracks of course, but if I have to do this for every
project I'm not gonna be happy about it!

You need to expose the Bus Pane in the Track View. There is a keybinding to do this that I forget but if you hover your cursor at the very bottom of the track pane and the cursor turns into double arrows pointing up and down click and drag up at to expose the bus pane. Drag out the bus you wnat to add automation to until you see a little icon in the lower left corner of that bus's bubble (it looks like a jagged line). Click that and it will expose the Automation Lanes for that bus. Now click the + button on the "lane" that appears. This will create a new lane. You will see a dropdown menu. Click that and you will be given the option to set that automation lane's envelope to any active parameter for that bus. Write your automation in that lane.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers.

Oh and you'll also see you have Read and Write buttons available on your new automation lane. The Write button is disabled by default so enable it and go nuts.

Right on (or Write On as it were... sorry. Bad pun). If it works out maybe edit the title of the thread as Solved.

And welcome to the forum. It's an awesome place. Cheers.

Well, it didn't work...it won't save any of the info.
I looks like it's working, you can see the automation being
written as I do it but it doesn't say there.
I'm sure I am doing something wrong, but I don't know what...

What you do - can you hear it?

You also have this offset or envelope mode, in control bar, which tell if faders are to visually change with automation or not - or stay put and any change will add or remove from automation overall.

So check if visuall thing - or actually an audible thing.

What I mean is that it's actually working, but you don't get the visuall feedback you are used to.
