Hi there, Have set all this up, and it appears to be working in that C9 is definitely working the master fader. But none of the other controls seem to do anything. I definitely received the SysEx dump, and all three plug ins are set up with in and out assigned. Been through the thread a couple of times checking everything, and am scratching my head now.

If you read the whole thread and the readme info and the info page in the .cwp, I have no more ideas what can be wrong. Sorry. I wish some Cakewalk rep could read here and give us some input on what can be wrong. But it seems we have nothing but ourselves.

I'm sure I'll work it out - it's obvious that the actual plug ins are working, as the master volume wasn't even doing anything until I double checked all the settings, at which point it suddenyl came to life. Thanks for this, really interesting and useful.

The Master Volume is not linked to the Plug ins, it's assigned via remote control. Are you using the .cwp that was in the zip?

Yeah, just can't get anything else happening. I don't think I understand this well enough, really. I'm don't get the distinction between the plug ins and remote control. What is the remote control?

You assign sliders and knobs on your Keystation via remote control by right clicking on what you want to control (slider in the console view, for instance), and selecting Remote Control, then, click the Learn Button, and move the slider, or knob on your MIDI controller you want to assign to that GUI control. Well, I don't know what's wrong if things aren't working for you. I'm out of ideas.

It is my experience with ACT that you need to have the ACT properties page open in order to assign anything to anything. Once that is done it can be closed. Thats the one with the all the boxes for assigning controls. Its not all that intuitive for new users. I wish you hadn't asked about how I have gotten along with this thread. I am still setting up Sonar in Vista. I had it all under control in XP with the neat stuff you have but hadn't use it yet. Now I am back at ground zero on this. I will get to it soon though. If only because you deserve my attention for the hard work you have put into this.

No Control Surface plug ins need to be connected to assign MIDI controllers via remote control. One just needs to right click the GUI control one wants to assign to a MIDI controller, select Remote Control, press the Learn button, move the MIDI control on the MIDI control Surface one wants to control the GUI control, and accept the assignment. This will assign the MIDI controller to operate the GUI control in SONAR. With that said, I still say: we can use some help from a Cakewalk rep.

Update: It seems there was a problem with the .cwp file included with the 1st setup zip I made available. I don't know why I can't share a SONAR project without users having a problem with the setup files working as intended. I even had a problem with the sysex message transmitting successfully, at a point in time. I have decided to have users just load a Cakewalk project template to use with the presets in this setup file zip. Hopefully, things will work better and more consistently as intended. Instead of sending a SysEx transmission from a Cakewalk Project to load the needed preset for the Keystation Pro 88, I have included an Enigma preset that can be loaded into the Keystaion Pro 88 by using Enigma. I hope some users can try the new setup files and report your experience here. If things go as intended, I can make more presets available which will cover controlling more than just 8 tracks and basic track parameters. Here's the link to download the zip: http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/thomasabarnes@att.net/lst?.dir=/Shared+Files&.order=&.view=l&.src=bc&.done=http%3a//briefcase.yahoo.com/

Howdy Mr Barnes - First of all, thank you very much for your efforts in putting this all together. Here are my top-line experiences - 1. The Enigma preset seems to work quite well, with one exception - slider C1 remained mapped to another CC#. Enigma showed a mapping for CC#75, but this didn't come through on repeated synchs and recalls of preset #10. 2. C2 and C8 both seem to have a different logarithmic scale applied to the slider compared to C1, C3-C7 and C9. Where the majority of these controls place the 100 value 80% of the way to the top of the slider's travel, C2 is at 100 around 15% of the way up, (ie. right at the bottom), and C8 is just under the midway point. 3. In your readme.txt file, you say "pressing one of these buttons" will either mute or solo a track, (B44-B51 and C52-C59 respectively). My experience is that you need to press the button twice for it to change state. I am not sure if this is what you intended or not. 4. The MMC controls seem to map correctly. A couple of thoughts - 1. I wonder whether or not the FF and REW buttons, (A39 and A40), would be better mapped to jog forward and back by a bar? 2. I can't get this configuration to takeover a plugin's controls. I don't know whether this is outside the scope of this test process. 3. I do sort of agree with an earlier poster who thought using B18-B25 to control Send Level #1 and B10-B17 for Send Level #2 would be more intuitive. So said, this is neither here nor there... An off-topic question for you - are you using Vista 32 or 64-bit? I cannot get Enigma v1.2 to work in Vista x64 so I am using Windows XP 32 SP3 for these tests. Nice work! Ciao, Q.

Regarding the third point in the first set of experiences above, I think the Cakewalk Generic Surface plugin needs to be set under MIDI MESSAGE INTERPRETATION to be "On/Off" not "Literally/Toggle". Making that change means that you press the button once and the state of the MUTE and SOLO immediately changes without requiring the second button press. Ciao, Q.

Interesting thread. I also have problems with my PS88. It keeps loosing the preset i do in the act learn page. It's not asking me if i want to keep the changes. I'm not using it for the volume, pan and send, i allready have a control surface for that. Anyway can get it to work. Anyone with the same problem, or anyone with a solution ? Thanks -Alxi-

I'm taking a break from trying to figure out this ACT matter. I can't seem to get my shared presets to work right for other users. There is a preset for the Keystation Pro 88 in SONAR 8, but it requires a user to use the ACT learn feature. ORIGINAL: alxi Interesting thread. I also have problems with my PS88. It keeps loosing the preset i do in the act learn page. It's not asking me if i want to keep the changes. I don't recall the ACT GUI ever asking me to save changes. I think you just have to save your presets manually by clicking the save disk icon to the right of the Presets dropdown menu in the ACT GUI.

Wow! I've love it. So easy a blind guy can do it. However, I load the preset in to my ks, via Enigma, but when I turn my rig off, and come back it's not saved. Is there something I have to do to retain it to memory? I've tried reading the manual, but I am totally blind, and the pdf just shows some graphics, which my screen reader can't read. After I send the enima preset to the ks, do I need to store it?

BTW: I forgot to say it in my last post. Thank you for these sets, and as far as I'm concerned, keep em' coming! As I mentioned, I am totally blind, and there's still so much of the Sonar interface, not to mention outboard gear, that is un-accessible to the blind user. Simpley said, we, the blind users, can use all the presets and definition files we can lay our hands on. It's eforts like yours that makes my, and other blind artist, production experience more enjoible. Thank you!

If I recall correctly, after you send the preset to the KSP 88 via Enigma, you have to recall preset 10. After that, the Keystation should save or remember your current setup if you turn the keystation off with the current preset selected. You can also use store to make sure your current setup is saved. I'm glad the preset works for somebody. When you say you're blind, do you mean literally or figuratively? I'm thinking you mean figuratively.

Ok I did everything you said to do. When you say recall on the keystation pro, you men just press recall? Did that. Nothing works. I just got the unit today, so Im trying to figure it out... I opened enigma, opened your file with it, sent it to the keyboard via the double arrows, then pushed recall. Then I opened a new project with the 8 track audio preset. When I tried to control the master fader with the C9 fader, no luck.... What am I missing? I did go into options and set the keystation pro 88 as a controller. That didnt help. Thanx, Lance

C9 is not assigned to anything with the new preset files. To assign C9 as Master fader in a project, right click on the Master fader in console view and select "remote control," and use the learn button to assign it. To recall a preset on the KSPro88 you press recall, and before the display stops blinking, you use the number keys on the KSPro88 to punch in the preset you want to recall. You have to recall a preset after you send the data to the KSPro88 from Enigma. There is a Keystation preset for the KeyStation Pro88 in the ACT dropdown preset list as of SONAR 8. You can try using that to make your own setups. I've had little success with the preset I've been sharing working as intended.

I've was looking over at M-Audio if they had a preset. They only point you to using ACT. I tried that and I got stuck on how to SHIFT to assigned the KS88 record button to Sonar's record! How do you get shift to work in ACT? In the meantime I'm going to give these presets a shot. Thanks! John G.

I am using an M-Audio midisport usb interface with the keystation pro 88. Sonar sees all of my Midisport outs and ins, but not the Pro 88. The only other other in'out Sonar sees is USB-1. I followed your read me text and got the ACT and Cakewalk Generic controllers loaded in. I also sent the Enigma SYSEX file to the Pro 88. IThe display showed that the Pro 88 received the SYSEX file. I can not find any Keystation ins and outs on the midi devices. Anyway, long story short, the only way I can get any of the controls on the Pro 88 to work is to run it thru the in and out of the MMC device. There is not even a selectionfor "none" on the output of the MCC device. Should I unhook the Midisport and just use the Pro 88, or is there something else I am missing. Thanks

Hi dizzywig: These setup files were made with the Keystation Pro 88 connected directly to a USB port on the computer. and I don't know anything about the MIDISport. The only thing I can suggest is to connected the KS Pro 88 directly to a usb port on the front or back of your computer (then, you should see the KSP 88 MIDI ports in the connected devices drop down menu for the MIDI plug ins/control surfaces). I don't know what version of SONAR you are using, but SONAR 8.0 had a ACT Plug In preset for the keystation Pro 88. but I no longer see the preset after I updated to 8.0.1 or 8.0.2.
