That article doesn't show the same advanced options as are in my IE 11. Anyhow, I've abandoned IE11 for Firefox and am having much better luck. Only one website causes a problem with it, and I've abandoned that website too. So now everything is running smooth as silk. So far I'm very happy I upgraded to the Avast Internet Protection program. My system is still able to upgrade as necessary and as I request....a week ago I wasn't able to upgrade anything including MSE or Windows 7. System restore is also still working...last week that wouldn't work either. So I would say Avast is making a difference.

You only have one of these options under windows 7. As the articles states... On Windows 7 with IE11, it's a different story - there is still a single option like IE10 because the AppContainer Integrity Level for sandboxing is not available on Windows 7. Only on Windows 8.1 with IE11, there are 2 separate options. However this is not true, there is in fact a registry hack to get this running on windows 7 which you could google up if you were interested enough (as you are using firefox I'll leave the link for another day). Cheers...

No I don't want to get into registry hacking, I'm not that computer literate and would cause more harm. Do no harm is the motto. Firefox is working out well for me so I'm going to stick with that for the time being.

I'm really liking the Avast Internet Security program. It has a feature called Safe Zone which allows you to do your banking, make purchase or browse the internet in private. It uses a special browser called "Chromium" which is similar to Google's Chrome. This setup isolates your browser from your computer which derails data loggers and other unwanted intrusions. I'm using it now and it just feels very private. I like it.

I swear by Avast (not AT it). It does its job well, and allows Sonar to do its job, too. Bob Bone

After working with the features in Avast for a while, I wouldn't want to be without it. The Safe Zone feature is now my new browser, and it works great once you get used to it. My computer seems so stable now.

The only problem with the Avast Chromium browser is that it doesn't connect with your computer's audio setup. So you can browse all day and not hear a thing....Like they say, it's isolated from the rest of your computer.

To completely remove a mcafee program, you uninstall it using the regular Windows way and THEN, you run this program: MCPR.exe, I have a link but unfortunately I don't know how to post it here, it's removed from my post if I try. Do a Google search on "mcafee removal tool". Make sure you download it from an official McAfee site.
FWIW, I visit many Windows newsgroup and forums and it's a known fact that if you run more than one antivirus program you could run into troubles. For example if you don't like MSE and prefer Avast, install Avast and uninstall MSE. Win8 comes with Windows defender, if you install a third party AV program, defender should be deactivated. The installation process of the third party AV might be able to do that.

Well here it is two weeks later, and I just ran a couple of scans, one with Avast and one with MalwareBytes, nothing malicious was found by either. So apparently Avast is doing a good job of keeping viruses and malware out of my computer. The computer is running very well so I'm happy with the results.

I did a performance check on my computer and found that there were two driver problems, one with a bus controller and a network controller. I checked the device manager and found that the drivers were not installed. I used the Dell Utilities disk for one driver and went to Dell's website and found another driver with an automatic check of my computer. After I installed both drivers, my computer is now passing the performance check, the device manager check, and running like a raped ape.

See, this is what I was (and am) still worried about. Thank you both. I will investigate more before trying to remove McAfee from my machine. It's (McAffee) a pain in the ass at the moment, but my DAW is not broken. I am finishing up a job at the moment so I don't want to risk changing anything right now that may cause my system to start freaking out. Again, thanks to all in this forum. You're the best! Rob

The whole system is running very good but I do have one problem. I tried installing Avast's Grime Cleaner software last night but it wouldn't work. It only works when you reboot your computer and then it needs to log onto the internet to work, for some reason we don't know, it couldn't get an internet connection. At first I thought it was a Windows problem, and tried setting up a freshly reformatted and fresh install on a hard drive and got the same results, so I'm thinking the problem is something to do with my old modem. Anyhow I can't get the Grime Cleaner to work and have asked for a refund.
