[..] when I follow this video, as soon as I choose the ASIO driver and either click on "Apply" or click on "OK" and reopen the Options => Audio menu, I can't find any thing under the "Drivers" tab (it's empty).
I have resolved this issue:
I'm not sure what happened, but somehow, my Roland drivers have been replaced by Windows drivers.
Before I bought this UA-1G I bought an amp and a mic (and some cables) to do some recordings on my netbook, but that gave me a lot of static noise and I went back to the music store to complain about it.
Another guy at the store explained to me I shouldn't use an amp (which was recommended to me by another guy at the same shop), so they took the amp back and sold me the UA-1G. Because I wasn't sure I was buying something which would work without extra noise, I took my netbook with me and tested everything out in the shop.
The guy redirected me to the Roland site for the driver (although there was a CD/DVD with the package) and I did install it.
I just checked the driver, but every file was from Microsoft, not one was from Roland!?!
I tried to install the driver again, but it complained that the driver was already installed .. although the driver files say something else .. strange.
I removed the driver, went through the reboot sequence and installed the driver again and now I can choose the ASIO driver and see my UA-1G soundcard under the drivers tab where I couldn't see it before.
And when I check my driver files, some are from Microsoft, some are from Roland (I guess that's normal?).
So if people have this issue too, check you driver, if you can't find a file from Roland, I *guess* Windows screwed up and you need to reinstall it.
I had hoped this would resolve my DROPOUT's also, but as of now, it doesn't. As an example, I can't play "TUTORIAL5.cwp".
I'll try different buffer sizes like the video recommends and see if that will resolve it, but since I have an SSD disk, I doubt if this will make any difference.
Are there other things I can try?
