billsteve - this is the wrong place to ask this question, you need to click on the POST NEW THREAD button to start a new thread instead of replying to this one which has nothing to do with your question.

Hi Samara,

Thanks for your updates on HS7! And I must say that it has been gracious of you and your team to come into this forum to talk to us. Most of the time, I've felt that there has been no opportunity to feedback to Cakewalk on kudos and bummers that I have had.
Is this something of a "new direction" that Cakewalk is taking to talk to your customers or is it just a decision that you (hopefully not with regret!!) made as Product Manager?! ;-)
Take care!

Samara - Does Sonar Home Studio 6.2.1 support Windows 7? If not, what about Sonar Home Studio 7 if I upgrade??
My production system just crashed and I'm going to need a new one and W7 is the only thing available.

Hi
I have just upgraded my recently purchased Home Studio 7 with the 7.0.1 download. Since doing so I have experienced on many occasions a 'fatal error has occurred' which freezes the computer completely. The message lists

module c:\Program File\Cakewalk\DXi\GroovePlayer\GroovePlayer.d11

A crash dump file is created at

:c\User\Paul\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONARHome Studio7\MiniDumps\PROJECT NAME AND .dmp number

There is also an exception code c0000005

The fatal error occurs when I play back the clip I have just recorded.

Help please!

currently have Sonar SE 7...most of the advanced features I don't use...so, I'm switching to HS7 to simplify my workflow....sounds like, for me at least, a smart move because many of the new features in v.8 have been included in HS7 . Just to be clear you said SHS7 will have "Studio Instruments Drums"

Thanks !

No James, you don't.
These features were part of the original SHS7 release. (Note the dates on the posts.) They were new conpared to SHS6.
You have everything listed.
Other than patches, you shouldn't have to update it.

Thanks RobertB , I'm starting to use my Sonar Home Studio 7 XL again because it has REWIRE in it that I need for my new product I just purchase last week .
I did at one time update my version to the newest version months ago.

Hi Samara, thanks for the list.

I previously used HS 2002 (!) and recently upgraded to HS7XL.  I primarily used HS2002 as my sequencer for live performance.

I have two specific questions on HS7XL:
  1. Can you have more than one file (or project) open at a time?
  2. Can you create "play lists" of songs/projects similar to HS 2002?
I'll look for your reply and thank you in advance for your help!

I've been trying to use Sonar Home Studio 7 for 2 weeks now and am very disappointed with this software....1st problem was latency between the time I press the note on keyboard to the time it actually sounds.  I tried the suggested fixes and seems to have improved but not perfect.   Also, when I play the keyboard controller notes and sound is dropping out.  I tried the suggested fixes from your support team and the problem still exists.  Also the master volume does not seem to be very loud.  If I double click the piano icon, it brings up the mixer window.  when I test the piano in here it is at a lower than acceptable volume .  When I close the window and play off my keyboard controller, the sound is even lower.

Any suggestions?

The use of sonar home studio 7 is very easy as well as with the help of technology we use Cakewalk's acclaimed Step Sequencer, Dimension LE with Garritan Pocket Orchestra, Studio Devil VGA+ Guitar Amp Simulator, Cakewalk Studio Instruments backing band, and Boost 11 Peak Limiter in only one package.
