I have Sonar HS6XL, but I only used it for 6 weeks before upgrading to Producer. However it was not so different from other pre-X versions of Sonar, so whatever questions you have could potentially be answered by Sonar users who have been around long enough.

I wish to purchase Cakewalk SONAR Home Studio 6 (not Producer Edition). I have functionally "lost" mine on an obsolete computer. I've been unable to locate it on Craiglist & eBay Any willing seller please contact me.

You can't resell cakewalk software.( just in case you didn't know) I would also be very cautious about buying software in this manner

Permit me to rephrase then - would anyone wish to GIFT their SONAR Home Studio 6? My version 6 is functionally "lost" on an old obsolete computer. I no longer have .exe to install it on my new machine. Frankly, I am not computer savvy - as a total novice virgin to DAW - through "trial & error" - steep learning curve - it took me nearly 5 months to get any sound. Presently, I'm familiar & comfortable with it and have no interest in current CW software.

Per user agreement the software cannot be transferred in any way. However, if you have YOUR s/n and reg numbers you CAN use "borrowed" media to install the program. You should be able to get these numbers from your user account.

I see that you can't download old products from the "My Products" page. If you get in touch with the support team, they may be able to temporarily host the software and give you a download URL.

Almost all of my old products seem to be available for download. This even includes ones that I originally purchased as disks that were subsequently made available as downloads. The only ones excluded are ones that have never ever been sold as downloads.

If you lost the disks , you lost the disk,,LSHS was never a download. this seems like the version you had must have been a torrent if you downloaded it. Sonar LE is free with some gear. Cakewalk has some very affordable new versions. Try the demos. F your dead set on old software then any of the versions before X came out are all more or less the same to use. 8.5 was the best of the lot. But you will be breaking the licence agreement and won't be able to register.

Edirol, I will be perfectly honest with you. I've been there man. I used Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.0 till the wheels fell off. in the meantime I missed a few good versions of sonar. instead I upgraded to home studio 6 then HS 7 (With 7XL). it was a waste of my time to be honest. so I went right for the jugular and purchased Sonar 8, then every one of the X series I have owned since. There's a few things to consider, 1- the system requirements for HS 6 might not even work on anything except Windows XP or lower. 2- some of the VST's and FX will not work correctly (they might, they might not) 3- its a time machine / its a trap. I totally understand and respect your decision to want to use home studio 6. your familiar with it, maybe have songs recorded with it. don't want the learning curve. but trust me, its like walking backwards. One of my best sayings from the Chuckebaby words of wisdom novel VI: "Don't let technology leave you behind.. so Instead...be one step ahead of it." you can purchase my novel from: LearnFromMyMistakes. com <-- that's a joke by the way . I am not sure I even know where my disks are for Home studio 6. I would like to help you but take my advise (and Johnny V's advise) download a free Sonar LE version, watch some videos and welcome back the future . If you need any help or have questions with the Sonar LE version, hit me up. I will help you in a second as im sure many others will too. Good luck Chuck

To be fair it was designed to run on Windows Vista and will probably will work ok on Windows 7.

Compatibility mode works wonders sometimes. I'm running Photoshop Elements v2 on windows 10. So far, so good. Just set compatibility to the last known OS it ran under and then run install as administrator.

The Home Studio Edition of Sonar 6 was released a few months after the main Producer & Studio Editions. Vista had become available in the interim. I remember this well because Sonar HS6XL was the first music software that I purchased. I stuck with Windows XP though. FWIW, SHS 6 XL seems to work with Win 10. I haven't been able to thoroughly check it since I don't have an interface for this computer. It plays any project I try, but I can't record.

Home Studio 6 (32bit) plays fine in Artist other than some missing plug-in paths and the fix is to copy the patches from HS6 and paste into Artist EXCEPT I don't have access to HS6 any more. Curiously, my old 32bit have fewer errors using Artist 64Bit rather than Artist 32Bit. CW asserts they "don't have a copy of this old software" anymore. I don't "buy" their argument. From eBay, I can buy car parts for a 1976 Triumph or Microsoft Office Suite 2003. I assert I purchased HS6 as a download - believe it was actually marketed to UK and Australia - not so much in USA. Anyway, my wish is to "borrow" someones' install discs - CW shouldn't object - I can take a screen shot of serial/registration such that a prospective "lender" is assured there's no intent to "steal" anything. Please any takers? and ChuckEBaby I accept your words of encouragement to go forward YET - for me - NO - I have weak computer skills - through trial-and-error it took me 7 months to "get" HS6 to make a sound. Please any takers? to lend me SONAR Home Studio 6 install discs? There are strategies to ensure you'll get your discs back.

I am prepared to lend you the disk, but only if CW officially confirms that it is ok to do this.

There is no need to "lend" a disk, if you copy the entire contents of an installation disk to a Zip file, it could be transferred via dropbox, as opposed to a CDRW or a thumb drive which would require snail mail, either way the receiver would not be able to install without their Serial#/Reg code, correct?
