SONAR Resources for beginners - read this first

Hey Everyone,

I'll try to keep this sticky updated as we add new things - below you can find helpful links to SONAR resources, tips and info.

Desktop Music Handbook - this was originally written circa 1999 but is chocked full of useful info.  If you're totally new to digital audio, PC based recording and sequencing then start here.  There is also another very helpful guide available here

Audio Setup - this is probably the number 1 support request and most frequently asked question here on the forum.  If you are brand new to SONAR please check out our Audio Hardware Setup Guide to use it, simply click your audio device on the list and follow the instructions on the page.  If you're using the sound card that came with your computer follow these instructions

Dropouts - start with the steps recommended in your versions included documentation, then start with this kb article

MIDI - if you're new to this and haven't worked with MIDI before this topic can be scary.  Well the good news is that its not that scary.  The bad news is you'll probably have to read a bit to dive into it.  The included documentation in SONAR is a great place to start (click Help | Help Topics) Additionally we have some helpful resources in our knowledge base as well
Computers - the Computers forum is a great resource if you have questions.  We also have the Cakewalk DAW Labs where you can find helpful reviews and articles on computers and hardware that Cakewalk staff has used and tested.
