I use firewire410. No problems. It might depend on your computer speed but I'm not sure. I'm new to the whole "latency" thing. Didn't have no goldurn latency in the old days. We just pulled out the 30ips 2" and went to work.

Great idea and I appreciate the effort, however some of the vids, especially the utube vids are of such poor quality that I don't really find them useful.

Are they available on a web server for download somewhere?

Thanks.

Those gearwire vids could sure use some editing!

There are so many pauses and "um, let me just, ah, um...(trailing off). And they should make sure that when using tools like audio-snap the result would sound as good as possible. For example the tamburine he's trying to quantize in one of the examples is definitely not tight with the music at the point where he announces that he's content. It certainly wouldn't convince me to crossgrade to Sonar if I wasn't already a user.

Great stuff ... this is priceless , even if some of it's hard to follow , at least it lets me know what's possible with my DAW.

the one about audio snap is great until he starts pooling transients .. and tweaking midi files.
he runs through it so fast , and there is no closeup of what he's actually pushing.

The V-vocal is a great sale , but I haven't been able to get it working in practice .. the wave forms only showed up once
and I haven't seen them since. I can everything in melodyne , but it's a hassle to import and export Sonar's audio tracks
into the program .. and using it as a plugin seems even more of a hassle.

And what's up with the SONAR6 PE manual only being half as thick as SONAR3 pe's manual? I hope Craig Anderton
has a SONAR6 book published that's as good as his SONAR3 'MIXING AND MASTERING' book.

I used it more than the user's guide that came with the DAW.

Cakewalk,

What about some different types of videos that will show folks how to use you product in the performing of their daily functions. I believe that if you show these types of videos, people will know that performing every day recording task will make their recording experience easy with Sonar.

I have posted here with the question on how to set up Sonar so that I can have the vocalist listen to themselves with reverb added, but not recorded. I got so many different answers that didn’t' work. So, I would like Cakewalk to present a video on the setup of vocal monitoring, if possible. It should focus on how to assign tracks to busses for monitoring. How to place sends to multiple I/O for listening or using a headphone amp in the process, and also how t add an external and headphone amp. These are the types of videos that are needed so we know how to use your product effectively in our studios. There have been hundreds of post on this with varied answers, and folks still don’t have a complete answer.

Thanks.

James.

Hi-

I really appreciate the videos, but IMO the ones for ACT could stand some improvement for those of us who don't have an EDIROL controller. The video makes it look so easy, but it almost seems like an ad, not so much instructional for the rest of us.

The videos which used to be at the cakewalk site were very sharp and clear. The ones on youtube seem to be very tiny and hard to see any details (mouse movements - especially when done without vocal commentary). When i "expand" the screen size to where it would show more detail, like the original cakewalk videos, they is very blurry. I do appreciate the countless videos on youtube for cakewalk, but I have to watch them 5 times to try and make out the fuzzy details. Are there any videos available which are clear like the "older" ones which used to be at the Cakewalk site? (Yes, I am wearing my reading glasses! LOL).

Thanks

Love having the new video listing! Would it be possible to post dates at least for the new ones? That would be very helpful, since I check the thread often and "New" turns to "Old" after a while...

BTW, Branden is a video "star", IMO! He does a great job.

You are sooooooooo correct Susan, I see Sonar 5 Videos marked as New. Dates would allow the potential viewer to know if the video is something new, or an older presentation brough back from the dead and modified.

I had updated the list to indicate which videos were new to the list. These are new videos covering older features. They have never been publicly presented before so I indicated them as new. They will continue to be listed as New until the next time I refresh the list. We just rendered an video of an AES demo of SONAR 7, so hopefully it will not be too long before we update the list again.
