SONAR Will Not Acknowledge Sample Rate Changes

Hello all,

I have a serious problem with SONAR refusing to recognise changes that have been made to the sample rate settings. I have attempted to change the sample rates of my audio device (Komplete Audio 6 by native instruments) to 48KHz on both recording and playback, which shows up when I look under the sound devices section of the control panel. I have also made sure to set this as the new sample rate for new projects in SONAr, restarted the program, but every time I look at the sample rate for the device in SONAR's under the ASIO panel view it says that the sample rate is still 44.1 KHz, and I know this isn't the case as I have applied and checked everything else.

When I try to change this in the ASIO panel, it changes to 48KHz, but then there is no apply button, so the moment I click off it, it changes back to 44.1KHz. I really would like to get this issue fixed soon, and would appreciate any help that you could give me in this regard.

The ASIO panel button should launch the manufacturer supplied ASIO client software for the device specified in SONAR Preferences Audio > Devices. Which I suppose in this case is something from NI for Komplete Audio 6.

That said, the client software is primarily used to set the number of buffers. The sample rate of an existing project is set when SONAR loads the first audio file for the project. The sample rate for new projects is set by the Sample Rate drop down on the same SONAR Preference page as the ASIO panel button. SONAR sends a request to the driver to set the sample rate based on the project and preference settings.

When I run my Tascam Settings app, it only reports the default Windows sample rate. To change it, you need to open Windows Recording devices, highlight the default device and click on Properties. Then, in the Advanced tab, you can select the default for Windows. I don't remember if a reboot is required, or not. See if this fixes your problem. It worked for me (I use the Tascam as my default Windows audio device).

Hi The Maartian - You wouldn't have to change any Windows setting if your audio interface is NOT set as the Windows Default Audio Device.  (I never allow Windows to point at my audio interface for playing Windows sounds.  Only Sonar and stand-alone synths get to use my audio interface and its ASIO drivers).
