SONAR X1 Essential Not Working with Mackie Onyx Blackbird?

I am a newb to home recording.  I got a Mackie Onyx Blackbird for an interface and wanted SONAR as my DAW.  When ordering, the person on the other line noted that SONAR was a good DAW to use and seemed rather knowledgeable about DAW's.  Well, I can't get them to work together.

The Onyx works perfectly with Audacity.  The Onyx shows up in some spots on SONAR, but it won't recognize the audio coming in or let me select Onyx from menus.  Any help?

Bottom line is SONAR knows a Blackbird is connected, but it won't record anything coming through it.  Again, I have no problem recording in Audactiy through the same rig.  Thanks!
