SONAR X1 LE/CAKEWALK PRO & Roland E-35

Many years ago I was able to connect my Roland E-35 to Cakewalk Pro via MIDI. Today I replaced my E-35 with the Juno Gi..which came with DAW SONAR X1 LE. I still have the E-35. Would I still be able to use my E-35 with SONAR via MIDI...(not daisy chained)...The JUNO Gi came with a driver for Windows 7. The E-35 never had a driver and was using Windows 95/98

How was the E-35 connected? USB or with MIDI cables?
