SONAR X1 and Dimension Pro 1.5

Hello out there, I know I'm not on my own with this problem, but here goes!
I've just purchased the boxed version of SONARX1 Producer to upgrade from SONAR 7 Producer. Like a lot of people, I cannot access Dimension Pro 1.5 it would not install.

Can anyone help please, bearing in mind I am not a techno when it comes to computers, my system is Windows XP

Thanks in advance

Brocky

I think people will need more information before they can help. What version of Windows, 32 or 64 bit win/sonar, what actually happens when you fail to install?

Thanks for your response Simon, as I say I'm not a "Techie" however my system is Windows XP the SONARX1 is I assume 64 bit and my sound card is Audigy 2ZS Soundblaster.

Maybe you have a defective disk. Can you browse the DVD's contents via Windows Explorer?

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

or a defective DVD drive - if the answer to bitflipper's question is no, can you browse other disks?

If you are not too computer smart running Windows XP with a SB Audigy ZS then most likely you are on a 32bit system. There is one XP version that was 64 bit and that was Win XP Pro. And mostly used by professionals. That version OS wasn't readily available to the public like 64 bit is now. You could get it, but it was a special order type thing.

IF your DVD drive is bad and you can't get a new one quickly, you should be able to log onto your Cakewalk Account (so long as you registered) and download it.

If you have Dim Pro1.2  installed with SONAR 7 Producer then you'll need to uninstall Dim Pro 1.2 first.

Thanks Guys, I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the disc as I can read the contents on "Windows Explorer"
Also the Dimension Icon is on my desktop (it doesn't say 1.5)

The next dumb question is do I need to un-install SONAR 7 ???

Do NOT un-install Sonar 7 until you are comfortable working in X1.
Also some older projects can be a PITA in X1; see various threads for info on that...
