SONAR X2 Producer - Not seeing AmpliTube 3 as VST FX Plug-In

Hi all,
 
    I am running X2 Prod.  I have installed AmpliTube 3 on my system but it is not showing up as available in SONAR (???)
 
    I plainly see the AmpliTube dll in my VST folders  (both 32 and 64-bit versions) and have had SONAR rescan the folders (several times) but can't seem to get it to show up.
 
    Any one else dealt with this?  Is there a magic incantation or such to get it to work?
 
    Fairly urgent request here so any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

    I'm not sure where you're looking since your thread title says "VST Synth". Amplitude is not an instrument and it will not show up in your list of VST instruments. If the installation went correctly, it should show up in VST fx, e.g. by right clicking in a track fx bin and then under VST2. Make sure you're not using a custom layout.

    Nnormally Amplitube would be in the FX list. Before X3, in order to use MIDI with the plug-ins, it is necessary to configure the plug-in as a synth. This can be done in the Cakewalk Plug-in Manager or by clicking the VST drop down in the plug-in VST header, selecting Plug-in Properties and "Configure as synth." This will enable the plug-in to accept MIDI input. It also has the side-effect of moving the plug-in from the FX list to the synth list. FWIW, starting with X3

    Sorry.  I did mistype...   I am expecting it to be in the FX list (not Synth).  
     
    When I go to a track/bus FX bin and right-click, AmpliTube is *not* appearing in the list ...

    Hmmm...    Did yet another VST folder rescan and suddenly it appears!   No other changes.
     
    Must be that the rescan is finicky about what/when it wants to actually perform the scan.
