Holy Moly!  That 65" one ROCKS - til you checkout.....  Nice, though.

I wonder how well those touch screens work, as I would think a WHOLE lot of desk space would be lost to keep the screen accessible to arms reaching for the touch points.  I also wonder about arm fatigue creeping in after a while, seems like doing that motion for any length of time would hunch up my shoulders a bit and make both my arms and my neck sore.

I'm sure if you positined the monitor correctly in a suitable desk you would not experiance any more fatigue than using V700 console.

Does any one know if i can get a 27" Planar monitor in the UK, or if there is an equivalant, dont think the 20 touch points would be nessasary, 10 would be good.

Just looking around a bit, there are some other options out there even for doing your own. Some youtube videos are food for thought. I'm thinking I'd either wanna wait for prices to fall next year, or try a dyi first before spending $700 on a Planar or equivalent.

Interesting... I've just had a look at the Cyclotouch website. I can't tell if the provide this product in the UK, but there may be similar manufacturers over here.

It looks like the T-Series is the best option, but even that only provides two touch points, whereas a purpose built touch screen gives you much more than that. I suppose it's a case of you get what you pay for, and two touch points may be enough for our needs...

    Hi All
I have found a couple of 10 point touch monitors here in the UK that seem as they could do the job and not to expencive. Both are Acer modles with good rewiews, Acer T272HL 27" at around £700.00 and a smaller version Acer T232HL 23"  at around £400.00.
I am going to try the 23" and if its comfortable i will eventualy upgrade the whole system to an all in one PC and monitor combined running Windows 8 on a 27 inch monitir or lagrger, that is once i get stable drivers for my hardware and we have a couple of updates to Sonar.
Hope you all have a happy new year.

Thought I should put this here as well, or maybe even instead:

    A point of interest:

Just saw this on the Windows 8 upgrade page & thought someone might benefit from reading it before they purchase something regarding the 2,5,10,20 touch points etc:

...If you have touch input hardware that isn't specifically designed for Windows 8, but is compliant with Windows 7 certification, you will experience touch responsiveness at least as good as it was on Windows 7.

Because Windows 8 touch requires a higher degree of responsiveness and precision, Windows 8-certified touch PCs provide a much better experience typing on the on-screen keyboard and using certain controls than on Windows 7 certified PCs.

For example, touchscreens that support fewer than five simultaneous touch points cannot enable certain Windows 8 features and applications...

    http://windows.microsoft....ltitouch-hardware-reqs

That might be a concern on the 'Cyclotouch' screen over lay, which I believe has only 2 touch points.

Capacitive touch technology is what you want in a touch screen with Win8. I did some reading as I really like Win8 and wanted a touch monitor. But prices have to drop before I step in. Right now the Acers' are about the best for the money. But still too much for me to get for my home PC.

I would also look at the resolution of touch monitors.  I personally will wait until they have at least 1920x1200 resolution.  Most of the screens I have seen are only 1220x1024 regardless of the size.

I think the X1/X2 interface is already squashed with 1200 vertical....

The pictures shows ProTools and Slate's own fader setup, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with Sonar

I just have to say I'm very excited about this! I've been using Windows 8 since it was in preview and recently got a Windows Surface. Obviously the Surface is running Windows RT and doesn't support x86 application but after just a little time using it I can already tell that keyboard/mouse/touch integration is going to be fantastic.

Any chance that Cakewalk may be working on a version of Sonar that would be compatible with some of the ARM devices? The matrix view on a tablet would really make Sonar my goto app for playing live music.

Hi all, 23"10 point  touch monitor, installed, Windows 8 Installed, Update X2a installed.
Had 2 weeks with this now. And with a mixture of keyboard, mouse and screen i love it. Having said that it took a while getting use to not using a mouse or reaching out for a fader. With a few more weeks practice and learning keyboard short cuts this will be a great system. I will be upgrading to a larger screen toward the back end of this year to at least a 27" and an upgrade to the PC.
To think only just befor Christmas I was considering a V700 system. In my opinion almost as good, however a fraction of the cost. I am shure with a few more upgrades to sonar and the improvement of touch technology a system like this will be better than a V700.
Many thans to the hard working Cakewalk guys, great job.  :)

Yep, this is true for right now. However, there were 20" 4k touch monitors at CES earlier this month and I've heard of other 4k touch prototypes floating around, so it won't be too long before we see higher res touch monitors on various sizes on the market.

This is so cool for so many reasons. I think WiDi (wireless video) is going to open up a whole new level of creativity in the home and the workplace. For SONAR, yah, this would be awesome in a vocal booth or really anywhere.

I just used the Acer 27" touch monitor for a week at NAMM and it was pretty nice. The only downside is that it slide down to only 80 degrees and not 90 like the Planar and others. Its screen is nice, though, and the picture quality and off angle viewing is much better than the Planar, fwiw.
