SONG: Pull the Other One
Hi, I've got a new song out. It's called "Pull the Other One" - you can check it out here: http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13539486This is also going to be the title of my new CD that will be coming out in the next few weeks. I'll be sure to let you know when it's ready. I'm going to try to sell a few copies - just to cover the cost of making it ;-) This one features the new "Repro-1" synth from U-he, and the usual suspects: real strat and tele Superior drums Trilian bass misc Kontakt and Omnisphere noises... built entirely in SONAR Platinum - of course!

I like the feel of the song. Would be a great vehicle for some vocals. I was imagining a narrator speaking over it telling some kind of spy story.

Cool tune... Now that Steve mentioned it I also get just a bit of that "spy" vibe, I think from the main bass/guitar riff. But I can almost picture lead vocals along the lines of Batsbrew on this one. It rocks.

I like it . . . I can hear Jesse Screed singing over this. I'd file this under Rock in an AC/DC plays Jazz kind of way. That rhythym guitar that fades out at the end - is it eq'd with a fair bit of the top cut off? Low pass filtered? I wonder if it could do with more high end "air" - it might open up the tone a little. I'd say your parts are recorded very well, nice chops! -TOm

Thanks a lot for the listens! And for the comments. I usually do instrumentals - but thanks for the tips about adding vocals ;-)
Tom - the end part is run through a "TV set" preset in the "speakerphone" plugin. It's supposed to be looking tech ;-)

I think the bass sounds like a slowed down version of "Peter Gunn Theme" rhythm and that's why it gives it that "spy vibe" great work, John. really like the synths. mix is good and balanced. love the dealy during the 'bridge" area or whatever you call that section. nice job!

Cool tune. I like the way you dovetailed the synths. Nice arrangement. It keeps it interesting and moving forward. I thought the lead gtr might be loud so I listened on another system and it sounds balanced. Great ending and a nice job overall. Good luck with the CD too.

Nice one John, I always enjoy your work. Getting a strong '90's indie vibe from this; Elastica, Stone Roses etc. Love that breakdown at about 1:50 with the trem guitar.

Enjoyable tune as noted by others some lyrics would probably lift this, mix works here.

Congratulations, John, you've made me happy this morning. These are good tracks, with or without vocals. You have some very tasty chord changes, and the way you've layered the mix makes it a pleasure on repeated listens. Best of luck.
