SONG: Upper Cut

Hi,
I've got a new song out. It's called "Upper Cut" - you can check it out here:
http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11686434

It's done with SONAR X1 and it features the usual suspects:
Superior Drums
Trilian Elec Bass
Omnisphere
VB3
real Strat through a POD XT
general nonsense...
Any comments welcome ;-)

Nice!!  I love the bass on this.  It sounds like the bass tone on our last couple tunes.  Full and biting!    Lots "o" goodies going on here.  Moving tune.  I really liked the way you arranged this one.

This is a cool tune with a lot of texture.  The arrangement is well done and maintains one's interest.  The parts are performed nicely.  Good job.

Blown away. Outstanding mix for the most part (not fond of the distorted guitar that comes in at 0:36, its lowfi to the hifi of the rest of the tune and stands out like a sore thumb to me). Otherwise, this is brilliant.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to listen! (Warren, Lynn and Fox) Thanks for your support and thanks for the comments.

The bass is a Trilian electric bass - I love Trilian.

That's actually a Omnisphere patch. I didn't want it to sound *too much* like a real guitar, and it is supposed to stick out a little. It's the closest thing to a melody at that point ;-)

OK well, it's all about experimenting and trying things out...

Cool - great arrangement and everything seemed pretty clear to me in the mix.

Enjoyed it - it kept me interested, I especially liked the change to something a bit more 'straightforward' at about 1:30.

    Good job!

    Cheers,
    Terry.

I'm really surprised that more people aren't picking up on this. Sounds great all round and really grabbed me from the off.

I agree with Frank that it would sound even better with some vox ;) As is it sounds more like a song without words than a fully fledged instrumental.

The only thing I would change arrangement-wise is the end - sounds better with a fade out rather than losing the momentum a little as it does at the moment, but maybe you have something in mind to be added that will make more sense of that.

    Nice though. Congrats. More please.

thanks a lot for listening Paulo - and for the comments. Maybe someday I'll work with a vocalist - but for now, I enjoy instrumentals. I do sometimes refrain from using a "real" melody - so that's what you 're referring to. I just really liked that Omnisphere "guitar" patch, so used it for a kind of melody (sort of ish) ;-)

I just wanted to try something different from a "normal" fade out.

it's all just going with gut feelings ;-) but thanks for the input.
