SPDIF optical PCI board for Windows 7

Hi,

I am planing to move to a W7-64bits DAW, and so I am looking for a new SPDIF optical PCI board.
Currently I am working with a Delta Dio 2496 (on XP-32bits) which is no longer supported for W7 - no drivers available.
Also I do have a Delta 1010, but I actually need an optical interface, and I'd prefer a PCI card.
I have been looking in the internet without any success.
Do any of you recommend one, please?

Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Luis

The m-audio delta 2496 does have Win7 drivers.  is that what you mean by "delta dio 2496"?

The DIO 2496 is different from the Audiophile 2496. I have a couple of each.

luismacedo, what's your budget? And how about a PCIe board? At the high end is the RME RayDAT, which is an expensive PCIe interface.

You might want to look for a used Frontier Design Dakota card. But its driver is still in Beta status, and updates are few and far between.

I know it's heresy, but does your motherboard have an optical connection? The Dio 2496 was based on a very basic chip and so if you were happy with it, you might be happy with your onboard optical device if there is one.

Thanks tarsier,

PCIe board is an option but the RME RayDAT is too expensive.

It's not an heresy your question. Actually I also thought about a MOBO with optical interfaces. At this moment I am still planning to build my DAW and this problem with the DIO is delaying my decisions. I'd like to go for an ASUS or a Gigabyte Mobo but I could only find boards with SPDIF optical OUT, and I need the optical IN too.

Again, thanks for your help.
Regards,
Luis

What about the Echo Gina 3g ? It's under $300 and it has optical in and out.
