SPlat Multi-Doc annoyances with x-ray and plugs.

Actually this behavior has been st same throughout the x series IIRC.
I use 2 monitors and I normally un-dock the Multi-Dock window and place it on the second monitor. If I open a vst or other plugin that floats above the Multi-Doc and click on the CV or any of the other docked views the plugin disappears behind and I either have to click on the icon to open it again or minimize the Multi-Doc to get to it.

To me this seems like a situation taylor made for X-Ray except if I hide the plug with X-ray it still disappears behind the Multi-dock.

This is not how it behaves when the plug is over the main Splat window. Instead the plugin stays on top of the window and I either need to use x-ray, close the plug or move it out of the way if I want to get to something underneath.

This leads me to think that I need to request that the Multi-Dock behave the same as the main window when it is undocked or to have the option to dock the multi-dock on the right side of the main window. Currently it will only dock at the top or the bottom. If it would dock at the side I could manually drag the main window across both screens and slide the division to the center so to effectively split the view across the 2 monitors.

What do you guys think should I post this in the Feature request forum?

    Yes.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

I've mentioned this in several posts. And everyone tells me it doesn't work like that for them that all the plugins stay visible but that's not right.
How it's been described in post 1 is how it really happens. And I don't like it.

Mudgel I've seen this behavior for a long time and it's not a show stopper but it is annoying.

If the plug is open over the main sonar window it will indeed float on top however if any floating window including the multi-doc is maximized on the second monitor and the plugin is on the second monitor as well the plugin will move behind the floating window.

I dare anyone to prove otherwise.

ok now that is over. LOL

Now if there is some ini setting that is causing this I would love to turn it off.

+1  It's funny... if you split the plug across the two monitors, it stays on the main and is hidden on the console...  shouldn't be I agree...We'll all head over when you've done the request...

I've spent days on this looking for windows, display driver or sonar settings that could be effecting this but it seems like any window displayed on the 2nd monitor will go to the back when another window, eg plugin is selected. The only exception I've found is that if I have a window open that has the option Always remain on top, then it obeys even on the 2nd monitor.

To work around it what I do is make sure that the Multidock is open on the 2nd monitor and the console within that so I can use the D shortcut to minimise the multidock exposing any windows ie plugins open on the 2nd monitor. It's actually quite practical and now that it's become part of my workflow maybe even more flexible.

I have X-ray on but it doesn't seem to work on the 2nd monitor either.

This behavior doesn't bother me much but here is a little free utility that might solve the problem for some folks. I did not write this app and I don't know anything about it, but it looks like it could be helpful. I'd be curious to know if it works for any of you.

EDIT: Possible problem is it might not see a window inside a host as a "real" window.
