ST_Recording and Playback Realteck looping Problems

Hi There,
I am a newie to this. I use Pro Audio.
Operating sytem is XP Pro.
Sound Card is Realteck.

I want to record Audio.
However OK for the first Track.
The when I record on the second Track,
it has everything from the first track as
well. How do I record on each track
without having the stuff on the other tracks?
Can anybody explain.

    Welcome to the forum.

There is an insane number of posts on this forum relating to you problem which can be revealed with the Search function.

    Here is an example:

    Open the Volume Control panel.
Under the Options menu, select Properties.
There's a box there labelled 'Adjust volume for'; change the radio button to Recording.
    Hit OK.
In the panel you get, make sure the 'select' button is checked only for the input you're using. In other words, uncheck everything else.

In order of priority, I'd recommend:

    1) Try the above: if it (or something similar) works: great but then:
    2) Download & install the ASIO4ALL drivers - this will give you greater control & better latency
    3) Buy a better soundcard/audio interface - there are plenty of threads here on this subject
    4) Consider upgrading Pro Audio to something made in this century unless you're completely happy with it in which case... no worries !

    Good luck.

<edit> learn how to use the forum Search or (perhaps better still) enter your search arguments into Google using the site:cakewalk.com option

    Hi Rev.Jem
Thanks for your reply. I appreciate that.
I have found that when I use Cakewalk
for an audio recording, I have to listen to the
track 1 to record vocals on Track 2.
(By the way I have noticed that
I can record track 1 on track 2, even though the mic is unplugged from
the computer. Does this mean that the computer
sound card has a built in mic that I have to somehow turn off.)

Can you please tell me what ASIO4all drivers are or is it
a programme that manages sound cards.

    Another question
Is it only possible to record 1 track of vocals per 1 *.wrk file for an audio project,
or can you put multi tracks on 1 *.wrk file.
    Regards

    Hi all,
Well I've finally worked out this cakewalk simultaneous playback and recording.
To record each track and have no other tracks on the recording, all you have to do is set a channel for each track.
    ie
    Track 1 ------- Channel 1
    Track 2 ------- Channel 2
    Track 3 ------- Channel 3
    Track 4 ------- Channel 4
    etc

    Simple eh??

Consider taking the Rev's advice to heart regarding that soundcard you have.

SB, Realteck and other "came with the PC" sound cards are designed primarily for basic Windows usage and basic gaming.

They are not designed for audio recording or critial recording apps where fidelity matters.

The good news is that getting into an entry level pro card these days isn't all that cost prohibitive.

(check out M-Audio's website for starters)

Likely you'll get better conversion, less chance of clicks/pops, better latency and fidelity all the way around.

    FWIW
