SUCCESS! - was: Just what I needed... a great deal on Z3TA+

Oh, thank you sooooo much Cakewalk for giving me absolutely no excuse not to purchase Z3TA+. I can just hear the marketing meeting:

"I heard that Mycranium said he's done spending money on music software for a while."

"Oh yeah? That sucks. My baby needs formula."

"I know... he's already got Rapture and Dimension Pro, right? Let's make a really good deal on Z3TA+. Let's drop it to two figures. He won't be able to resist!"

"Ha ha! Great idea! Let's do it"

"Ha ha! Ha ha ha! HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAA!"

Seriously though, I feel like I HAVE to buy it. I purchased Dim Pro and P5v2 on their own before the current deal, so if I get Z3TA+ for $99 that lowers my average cost, right? No, don't disagree... it's my rationalization and I'm sticking to it!

Thanks Cakewalk for making software I like. Thanks for offering good deals on it more frequently than I'd expect.

-Mike

Wait a minute. Do I see 'Sonar 5 PE' in that signature? I think we need more of those meetings...

    I KNEW it!

I have purchased the 6PE upgrade (with the Rapture deal) but I haven't installed it yet. So I haven't put it in my sig. I've got some projects I want to finish up before I go 6 and have to teach my old-dog self new tricks.

Since this thread has your attention I'd like to say thank you - your synths are astonishing.

Over at Microsoft's marketing meetings they're in a panic because I don't have any interest in my Xbox since I got into sequencing.

Are you one of the unfortunates who doesn't get their Cakewalk emails in a timely manner? I read about it in an email I got on Nov. 3 with the subject "Z3TA+ for $99, Free Loopmaster CD with Project5 Version 2 for $198" - there's a promo code in there.

I'm not sure if the e-store is laid out differently for Europe than for the U.S. Have you tried just drilling in from the Cakewalk home page?

LOL! I hear you on that one. Every now and then I look at those things and think about grabbing one. And then I remember that I never even play any of the handful of PC games I have because I'd rather be playing with the musical toys.

They call 'em fingers, but I've never seen 'em fing.

Ok I got the deal in my email today.
No one said I had to actually buy sonar 6 to get the zeta+ deal.
And i'm not ready to buy Sonar 6 yet. Yeah yeah I'm a Cubase fool.

Rest assured Cakewalk. I will NEVER EVER buy a Cubase upgrade again.

I remember there has been a survey by Cakewalk, which I participated in, but never got the deal cause I had to leave for business and pleasure.
I didn't realise that it was a time limited offer.
So I missed out on that one.
Not fair I tell ya. I still got the promotional code on my puter though.

I got z3ta+ for $99 during a special several months ago that didn't require any other purchase, as long as you were a registered user of Project5 or Sonar (can't remember which).
Is this deal different than that?

    Just curious.
z3ta+ is SWEET. I love everything about that synth.
Sad that I took such a long time after hearing about it to actually buy it (a couple of years).

It's such fun to work with... sounds are excellent, easy to tweak, and a very usable arpeggiator.
z3ta + dim pro + rapture + proteus x + v-station = all of my time. I almost use nothing else at this point, and definitely don't use anything else in new tracks.

    Take care,

inmazevo. I see that you have rapture and dimesnion. Can you tell me please what did z3ta bring to the table? I heard lots of good things about it.

I've purchased those licenses in the reverse order, Markus, but I can tell you why z3ta+ remains a viable option here. The argument used to include the thousands of available patches, but that gap is narrowing. Still, there's the 'add-ons" (like the Virus) that completely reconfigure the synth.

You can 'buss' the oscillators, sync them, and use them for FM. While you can 'waveshape' oscillators in Rapture/Dimpro by outside manipulation, in z3ta+ you can do this in the Waveshaper on the fly, and/or under automation. The Modulation Matrix is much more complex, with more options for sources and curves. Filters and FX are about the same, with some unique exceptions. I love the right-click disable of FX for use as a 'compare/edit buffer'. Then there's the arpeggiator: hundreds of 'patterns', which you can add to and configure with your own MIDI files.

I've had all three of these synths since they were launched. Maybe z3ta+ was a little 'older' when I got it. But I can't say that any of the have lost their luster. z3ta+ is deep.

Indeed. I came in to the trinity in a similar order:
    z3ta+
    Dimension Pro
    Rapture

I know people point out similarities between z3ta+ and Rapture, but I honestly see them as very different synths, and use them in very different ways.

I use the arpeggiator in z3ta+ quite often, and I tend to program my own patches in it more often than in Rapture... partly because I haven't had Rapture as long, and partly because I find the task considerably easier for my way of thinking with z3ta+. You may find Rapture easier to program, and I'm sure I'll eventually grow into it.

I also like that I've managed to get my Edirol PCR-M1 able to control the patch changes (haven't tried bank changes yet) with z3ta+... I'm not sure how to do it with Rapture, or if it's even possible.

OH! Cakewalk, you tease me. Not very nice. It turns out the Z3TA+ deal is with a concurrent Sonar 6 purchase. The email did not indicate this.

There's NOTHING in the email to indicate it has to be purchased WITH anything else. The email just says the specials are for registered customers.

EDIT: OK, there's a very nice woman who took my call at Cakewalk CS and she said she's going to try to get me the deal, but patience is required because I'm not the only one who's asking for it.

I willl post when I hear something.

My experience with Cakewalk sales has been that the many times DO honor deals...

Not too long ago, they accidentally posted a Sonar 5 upgrade for Project5 users for $79.
I took the bait, and the next day found out that it was a misprint... but they honored it anyway.

Give them a call or shoot them an email. It's worth a shot.

Yea, I was pretty POed that I did not get this email....until yesterday. I received an email from CW that was pretty clear that the Z3TA+ deal required purchasing Sonar 6 or the Sonar 6 upgrade at the same time. A replay of the September/October deal except instead of Rapture, this month it is Z3TA+. I bit on the Rapture deal so I am SOL on the deal this month.

OK, I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I just bought Z3TA+ for $99 on the Cakewalk site. I got another Cakewalk email that was very similar to the previous one, with slightly different wording (including "No promo code required). So I checked the radio button for "Sonar 6 customers" and was able to complete the transaction. Perhaps now it just checks against a database to see if you've registered Sonar 6 instead of needing to see it in your cart.

    Anyway, I'm happy!

    The end.

    z - you were correct.

I too received another e-mail this morning. Curiously it only mentions buying Z3TA+ when upgrading to SPE6, no promo code required. It did not mention anything about a discount for existing Sonar 6 users. Thanks to this thread, I checked the store and....
There it is, a discount for SPE6 users, thanks Mycranium.

Now if the deal applied to the download version, I could skip the shipping cost and have it this weekend but I'll just have to wait a little longer.

Download would have been cool, but in my case my OCD dictates that I actually have the box or else I feel incomplete. I wish I were joking.
