The time I was able to listen was not very long but it sounded well produced. Parts of it I even enjoyed. I'm not a fan of this particular style though. Mix sounded also balanced.

Yeah... I'm not into this style of music, but the mix sounded pretty good.   I was surprised to hear a "normal voice" from the singer.   Well, for the first part anyway.

    Thanks for the comments.
Im really into any type of music. Same with any other art form, like movies. I can go from extreme to ambient to pop, and like it all if it touches me somehow.
In this project i do mostly keyboards or "sound design" stuff since there's plenty of it on this album.
I do more stuff and have more bands, im sure in the future i will post music that can touch you :P even this band "SULLEN" has great soft almost ambient stuff. Hey itś "prog" whatever that is!

Wow, this is quite a journey.  I like the changes that this song goes through, and I like the "Rob Zombie" chorus.  The arrangement is clever which kept me listening.  It's not that easy to produce this kind of material, so kudos on the guitar work.  BTW, welcome to the forum.  I'll be listening for you in the future.

    All the best,

I liked it.   Cool song, interesting syncopation and different feels happening throughout and the mix does sound good - like Lynn said it's not always easy getting this type of music sounding punchy.   I'm also not a big fan of "growl" vocals but hey, it fits!    I like the parts you added, nice touch and adds a nice counter-balance.

Sounded great here! I'm really not into the death metal vocal sound, but the music was killer! And really, I liked the vocal part better than most songs I've heard in that style. Very well done!

OK, I don't know how to explain this.  Here goes.  The drums were really good and I could hear them just fine but they didn't have any punch.  I don't know how you would deal with that, one of the other guys probably knows.  I would say that if the same singer is doing the singing and the screaming he won't be doing the singing for long! LOL Good vocals and playing.  Something about the mix just left me wanting.  I wish I knew what to point to.  Good tune and nice performances.   I will say "THE LOUDER, THE BETTER"  I just cranked it up till my ears bounced and I really like it.

Thanks guys, the mix is being done by one of the Guitar Players and what a task he got in hands.
This is just a sneak preview the actual final version will have more quality im sure.
The album got songs that sound more like jazzy stuff, ambient and slow and then this heavy tunes. Its been 2 years since we started working on it!
The singer is actually his first time as a lead singer :)
From where i stand im just happy i was invited into this!

Re: SULLEN - Portuguese Metal Band 2014/11/11 19:12:52 (permalink)
The quality was excellent; very professional sounding.
There were parts that I was into, but some of the riffs felt random. It was like there was no rhythm to it, if you get what I'm saying. It sounded pretty generic, as far as the writing goes. If you guys are doing this for fun, then I apologize if I'm judging it too hard. If you're doing it to try and maybe make a career of it, I think it would be a good idea to examine your writing style.
I admit, this kind of metal isn't really my bag, but I've been exposed to it enough to understand it. You guys have a good sound, everyone seems to have solid playing ability, but the writing isn't there. It's heavy, but there's nothing to make it stand out from the millions of bands that are doing the exact same thing.

I hope my advice helps. I'll be keeping an eye out for more songs from you.
