SX4Pt - Missing Plug-In Stand-In How to reestablish a link to a VST?

Is there a way to relink the original VST(x) without creating a new instance?
  1. VST(x) is on a BUS
  2. Cakewalk lists it as "Missing Plug-In  Stand-In"
  3. The audio routed to the BUS will not sound even if the FX VST(x) is OFF or the plugin is deleted, the BUS is essentially dead and a new BUS needs to be created.
  4. The path to VST(x) is reestablished and opening a new instance of the plugin is possible, but there is no way to know what settings were initially used.

    Once that link is broken there's not much can be done. That's why it's so important to save presets with the plugins. Normally Sonar saves the plugin state but if as in this case the link between the project and the plugin is broken, well it's broken.
