Sample librarian

I've got a couple of hardware synths, samples for those, and all of the Cakewalk software synths. I spend a lot of time trying to find samples - is there a current sample librarian that runs on Win7? All I seem to find on the net is very old. I don't care if I can drag and drop the sample into Soanr - just having a sorted list would help me find samples. Thanks is advance, juan

Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for.  http://www.jamsoft.co.uk/samplesort.php
Definitely worth a look though - Public Beta I believe (so currently free).

    Supported Audio Formats
WAV, MP3, CDA, ALAC, OGG, WMA, AIFF, MP2, MP1, MP4, APE, FLAC, AAC, Musepack, Wavepack

So literally it is a sample librarian not intended for presets etc.

Conversely, Big Tick (the guy who made Rhino2) has Zen http://www.bigtickaudio.com/zen/about-zen
Which is a Freeware PRESET librarian for VSTI's. It loads as a VSTi itself, then loads the synth and claims to work will "most popular vsti's" and "new ones are added daily". Again not sure if this is what you are looking for either, but nice to have options, right?

Before I would attempt a manual system, I'd try some of the ones listed above....^^^^^^

All my synths (soft synths like Kontakt and quite a few others)  have libraries that are pretty much organized into categories.....
Vocal..... Orchestral..... Band....... etc....and within the major categories, they are divided into sub categories.... Orchestral> brass....strings...... woodwinds..... etc....

If the hardware synths are not already organized... I think it would be easy enough to set up folders and sub folders to your liking. Could be a massive chore if you have huge gigabyte libraries of random samples... Some of the Kontakt instruments have hundreds of individual files for just one instrument...... that would be a real pain to organize.

    Good luck with it.

This is the best hardware synth librarian.  I use it and it's excellent.

You can also try WavSniper at http://www.74mph.com/wavsniper/

It's a "sample tagger" database, with quick preview, quick searches, and drag and drop support into your DAW.

    Windows only though.
