Sample slicers
I was looking at Geist but now am quite taken by IL's SliceX. However, I haven't found much on the behavior of SliceX in X1 here on the forums, and what I have found seems to be problems. Is anyone using SliceX in X1 and how do you like it? Also interested in Geist opinions and anyone who feels that the tools in X1 for the purposes of cutting up and rearranging, remixing etc. material. Thanks for all thoughts on the subject.

Thanks, just happen to dl tx16 a couple days ago but haven't tried it yet, I also got shortcircuit. How do you like Geist, in terms of pros/cons since you've been using it? The main attraction for me is all the tools i one place instead of slice here, sequence here, effects here, etc. Thanks for the Sonar slice link, don't know how I missed that one since I've been searching.

I haven't had much time to use geist to give a balanced view, as I've been moving about and currently have a bad cold (ears are no use) . depends on the music your making I guess, I did find the interface a bit confusing with regard to the saving options. I would say get a full sampler like kontakt etc if it's more complex things you want to do, beyond messing with short snippets etc. I bought it partly because I was gonna buy maschine but NI haven't been to good to me as a customer , so now my money is going elsewhere where possible equivalents exist try the demo perhaps http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=120

I have been playing with Geist CM (cut down version of geist that came with an issue of computer music magazine) and I think the slicer on it is awesome. +1 to fog for providing the link for the options within Sonar. It's not the most instant gratification option but it does work. i just keep forgetting about it.

i have the full version of both bruh. i bought Slice X 1st which led me to buy Geist. Slice X crashes X1 everytime i try to save my work. Geist is far superior to Slice X in every aspect bro. It works seamlessly with X1 plus its multi out so it makes mixing a breeze. Its not even a question where you should put your money. Geist's browser has to be one of the best in the biz! It even makes X1's browser look like a cruel joke. X1 & Geist is a match made in heaven. Peace & Light

Thank you WHYZ! Exactly what I wanted to know. I have now checked like 6 different ways to slice and dice in X1 but they all involve do this . . now go here . . do this . .now open this . . Also a lot of ppl using Kontakt or pushin Reason/Recycle or ableton, FL etc. But for 1/4 the price I went back to Geist with 8 layers/pad, filters & effects at every level, that browser, the last thing I needed to hear was how it worked in X1. Thanks so much, I'm dl now.

i use geist all the time with sonar, it's replaced the need to use recycle and reason for me, i use it to do drums mainly because its multi out, just don;t turn it off in the synth rack, it pretty much crashes sonar everytime, other than that - no problems!!
