Well here's what I can say...
I use SEVERAL DAW's...all of which installed and work PERFECTLY...
Custom Shop 1.6 does NOT work for me...
I even reverted back to 1.5 and NOW that doesn't work either... although it had worked fine since it's release and before the update...
No program that I have installed has failed...except this one.... facts are facts...
I guess I'm the "rare" exception....

I'm not having the same issue as you Larry, but somehow my ST3 installation went to demo mode, or appeared to. I checked the path to the samples and it was correct... hit refresh and it did nothing... checked custom shop to see if there was something I need to do to re-enable my existing content... reloaded ST3, nothing, refreshed again, nothing... re-authorized... and reloaded ST3, still nothing... hit refresh... nothing... exited and checked custom shop one more time. Didn't see anything there, so I exited and decided to check ST3 one more time. Still shows the demo, but this last time hitting the refresh button seemed to be rebuild my database. And only on the fourth or fifth try. Gotta love reliable software. If they spent half as much time making there software actually work as they do coming up with clever advertising and neat little marketing schemes I think I might consider buying from them again, but I don't think I'll make that mistake again.

Rain Visting this forum last night after the session reminded me of the update, so I went back to the studio computer and proceeded to do it during the night not to lose any time. Download of ST 3.5 and the library update (around 1.47 GB IIRC) took less than 5 minutes. No issue whatsoever during installation. The library update even pointed to the correct (custom) folder. No authorization issue. I then launched ST in standalone mode so that it could do its indexing thing, which took a while - I'd say maybe between 10-15 minutes. I do have all the other ST instruments/libraries and a couple of Sonic Reality add-ons, so I guess it's a lot to scan. Haven't tested the new functionalities or the CS. As for the library, I'm using ST very sporadically, only for a couple of patches (electric Basses and, irregularly, a couple of Miroslav patches) so I couldn't tell.
Glad to hear it went well for you. I tried a third time to download and install. No problem with the download, it downloads in 5 mins as you say. But as far as the install goes it definitely hangs for me and errors out. I reported the error code to IKMultimedia in a support ticket.
Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

I had no problems with this update. The last one I had to install ASIO4ALL to get it to run. I skipped the Custom Shop install. My ST folder is over 70 gigs. I should find plenty to use in all of that.

Russians will be Russian ;) Anyway, I'm about to update to ST3.5 so are we in unison: first update ST3.5 itself, then the library (as we will be asked to), or first the library ?

The ST 3.5 setup would never complete - always hanging at 100%. I could not find any hidden dialog boxes behind it. Finally, I killed the process and opened ST and fortunately it did seem to complete the install. Everything seemed to be fine, so I installed the sounds update. Again I opened ST and it ran through the library update and all seems to be fine. Two issues I see at this time: 1. The only icon I get is for SampleTank 3 itself - the top node in the library that you expand to actually get to the sounds. There are no other icons in the library. 2. If I select MULTI (it defaults on INSTRUMENT) the only node I get in MULTI is Demo. Maybe this is the way it's supposed to be? 3. Keyboard navigation improvements are nice, but I wish there was a way to get to and copy the patch name. I would like to build a script to create Ableton racks for all of these instruments, and that would help a lot. I installed the new Custom Shop and it appears to be working just fine. YMMV

I had similar issues as 1 and 2, and if you read my rant above I finally got my instruments back. I hit the refresh icon after starting and exiting ST3 several times as part of the process, and it finally took. Might have been after I re-authorized it, but even then I had to go in and open it, hit refresh, close it, mutter a few more expletives, then finally go back in again and hit the refresh button, then it finally worked. Now I'm happy as a clam and ready to use SampleTank 3 with complete faith that any project I start with it now will work properly after the next update.

I downloaded both ST3.5 and the library, but thought I'd check here first. The downloads were quick, here. Will post back once I install. Like bitflipper, I thought "what do I need this new library for?" I will check it out, but IK thinks that is where their market is going, I am going to be looking at other stuff. Bit's bit about the cannons made me laugh! Thanks for that one! I was checking out some choirs/chorale things that all use Kontakt (mostly the full version), and thought, there are a lot of things for that.....hmmm. Michael

I think the intention is to update the library first. However, I never did install the new library files and everything seems to be just fine without them. There was a warning that "some instruments" might not sound right, but no indication as to which instruments they're talking about. Apparently, there have been some fixes to the stock factory content, but they're not giving any details.

Cheers, bit. Reading you, I wonder if I should indeed update. Adding 1,5 gig for no real reason, I don't see the point, certainly if sounds remain unchanged. Not interested in the new banks either. As for the Germans, I'm willing to forgive them some of their trespasses, for they have given me Johann Sebastian ;)

In the video, they did state that this update was just one of more to come that will cover other types of music. It kind of makes sense to go after EDM market 1st. Let's hope they add more variety.

The sounds updater doesn't only add but does also replace some existing files that need to be updated. While the warning is that instruments may not sound right, there are also other issues that can and have occurred without the sounds updater being run. Support can give you more guidance if you are concerned, but if you do run into issues with 3.5 in the future and have not run the updater, that will be the first thing you'll be asked to do.

When I updated, I did the ST3.5 installer first, and then did the Sound Library installer second. It worked fine, and as of now I have not experienced any problems. The new Sound Library installed over the top of (in the same place as) the previous Sound Library; it replaced it. So I figure that as long as it is replaced, the order did not matter. Could be wrong, but it worked fine.

You're welcome, BB. All went well I hope at your end. I'll just add that there's no apparent order for these updates. I first did ST itself, then the library. Next, the program automatically went through all sounds and that was it. Nice one.
