SampleTank/Amplitube/SVX Group Buy

This one's just getting rolling, but could turn out to be a good deal if more people sign up. I did the Amplitube 2 one a few weeks ago and was very happy with the deal.

Group Buy

Stuff.

This GB should be interesting to a lot of people. It is the Sampletank Rare and Vintage Group Buy, from eSoundz.

The GB starts at $299 and gets down to $199 if 200 people join. We're currently at 46, so the price is down two levels, and moving towards the third.

    Included items:
    SampleTank 2.5 engine
SampleTank Vintage Collection by Sonic Reality (1GB)
Squids Rare Instruments Vol. 1 Electronic
A Taste of SampleMoog and SampleTron (20 sound teaser )
Your choice of IK effect: AmpliTube 2, Amplitube Jimmy Hendrix Edition, Ampeg SVX, CSR or T-Racks thanks to IK’s plug n’ mix promo.
Bonus 1: If we reach 200 people they'll also include Sonic Reality’s “Retro Groove Collection” for SampleTank.
Bonus 2: If we reach 300 people they’ll include Squids Rare Instruments Vol. 2 Acoustic

IMHO, the chance to get a free IK plug in makes this a superb deal. The way this works is that the GB includes the sounds, plus the Sampletank 2.5 engine (doesn't include the regular Sampletank Soundset though), which you can register before April 30th to qualify for a full download version of any of the other IK plugs.

This is one is for people who like things a little off the beaten path. That's part of the attraction though.

Bottom line,,, you can get the whole deal for less than the normal crossgrade price of the plug in you get with it, and the sounds are free

That would be news to me, too. At any rate, you will want to register the one you get with the GB, even if you already own Sampletank 2.5, because that is what unlocks the free effect you get included.

I hadn't realised that I've got the free version of 2, not 2.5. However there appears to be a free 2.5 also, see here.

Yeah, Kevin - I'm not seeing a download link on that page you provided. It SAYS Sampletank 2.5 Free - but there's no link to download it unless I'm just overlooking it.

Curious. I have just checked out some other similar links and none of them quite matched what was promised. Maybe there is no free 2.5 after all.

The GB is at 88, with 10 days left,,, we need a little help to hit the numbers,,,

This is for Rare and Vintage sounds, so it's a bit off the beaten track. I'm all excited about it, but then again, this stuff is right up my street. It's a bit like a Sonik Synth 2 expansion, with a hint of world and unusual. We get the sounds, PLUS the free IK plug of our choice,,,

If you're a keyboardist,,, this is a pretty cool oppertunity, IMHO

I am seriously considering getting in on this GB. I was part of the AMP2 vintage GB and am overall happy with it. Before deciding on this one, I need to get some help with problems I am having with Amp2, X-gear and STLE2 (separate purchase). Not wanting to hijack this thread -- is there a forum, perhaps on KVR, where I can get some advice?

    Thanks -- b

    Hi birdg

eSoundz has a forum on KVR, you can post questions there. It's not a specific IK forum (there isn't one) but there are already a few threads there about the GB you were in.

    http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=9

This forum also has some very knowledgeable people, you could start a specific thread with your question right here, in the software forum, too.

The GB is finally finding some legs. We're at 152 now. http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1975

    Thanks HG

OK -- let's start here -- Amp2 and X-gear both in stand-alone and loaded as VST in SONAR 6, suffer from GUI disintegration. That is the background image (wood floor motif) appear in blocks after manipulating controls in the Stomp module. A minimize and restore of its window will return the ui to normal. Also, quickly moving the cursor over the ui will cause the same behavior. This problem seems to be somewhat intermittent in that it takes a few minutes to start -- but once it does it's constant until closed and opened.

X-gear, when opened (stand-alone) on my left LCD monitor smears a horizontal block (again appears to be generated from the wood floor motif from the Stomp module) over my right LCD monitor. In addition, it suffers from the same behavior as Amp2. Clearly it and my graphics card are not playing well.

P4 3.0, 1GB RAM, ATI AIW9600, XP SP1, MOTU 828 mkii ASIO drivers (referenced for next issue)

Clearly this is hardware related, but I have zero problems with many other audio apps

I just received the Brit Horns ExpansionTank ($20 @ MF) loaded it with the included STLE2. All the ST free patches work fine, but a patch included in BH (Stereo Brass) totally locks up my PC, requiring a panic reboot. Others work fine, but I haven't had a chance to audition them all.

TIA for any help or direction!

This sounds like something to take up directly with IK support.

    http://www.ikmultimedia.com/Main.html?IKSupport

I don't have X Gear installed yet, because I just have Amplitube until I get ATJH from the GB. I haven't had any problems running Amplitube.

On the Brit Horn sound,,, it's possible that that is a sound that had an issue for which a patch was issued. I'm not sure on that, though. IK support should be able to guide you on that one, too.

    Thanks HG

I'll fill out the support request there. If I get in, I'll refer you.

BTW -- do you have/use TRacks? If so, is this a wise choice given the excellent plugs bundled with SPE7? Squids did a great job selling it in the KVR thread! But still ..., I may opt to go with the full SVX plug.

    Yo bird,
I've got T-Racks and it pretty good. I tend to use the EQs and compressors in SP7 though. I'm using the crossgrade to get Ampeg SVX. This may be your best bet so you can use X-Gear to the fullest.

    Bak at ya Chip,

Thanks for your thoughts -- I'm 50/50 on SVX vs. T-Racks if I jump in -- so many places to spend $s . I don't mean to put you on the spot but, to quote Squids, ...

"The compressor is modeled after the Fairchild 670! But, it's tweaked to offer MORE features than the 670 had like different degrees of compression (the Fairchild was really more of a limiter). So... the SOUND of a $30,000 tube compressor but with some enhanced features? Nice!!!!"

    You got it -- True?

I tend to use the ST comp from 2XL, but the above sounds mucho enticing!

Not a problem. Yep, I got it. T-Racks is pretty sweet. I guess I should use it more. Well, I just tried X-Gear out. Apparently, if you use a preset that requires a product that isn't present, X-Gear will throw an error message but you can click the message and the preset will load with the products that it has. It sounds very nice from what I've tried. There are only about a hundred presets though. There were several that required AT Jimi Hendrix and a few that required SVX but I couldn't find any that needed AT Metal. Perhaps that will come in the future. What is cool is that the presets in X-Gear are not duplicates of AT2. I hope that this is useful.

The GB has hit 169 now, so we're close to getting the lowest price and getting the Retro Grooves set included. We should easily hit that,,,

I am between ATJH and T Racks for my free plug. Not a bad quandry to be in, though.

The GB has been picking up stream. It's at 217, so it's down to it's lowest price. It's almost certain to go to 300. The ending was pushed back to April 30th, so there's time for people to check it out and see that this is a pretty amazing deal.

We're at 265 now. This is most certainly going to hit the 300 mark. It's definately worth checking out. There's a lot of interesting stuff in the sound sets, and we should get them all. Squids is even talking about sweeting the deal with some brass sounds and other goodies if we hit 400. You have a chance to win a free IK Arc ,,, some fun swag he's giving away. It's getting fun now,,,, seriously check it out.

You get the Rare and Vintage soundsets, and a free Sampletank 2.5 engine, which after you register it, qualifies you for a free IK plug of your choice. All for $200. The plug in alone has a street price of around $300. There's even a way to get the Sampletank XL soundset by purchasing the sounds only, turning the whole thing into a full blown Sampletank. They have been blowing out a lot of the Sampletank Sound sets at a lot of retailers, so you'd have the full engine to tie all that stuff into a nice low cost library of sounds. If you don't have it, this is a good chance to get it, if you have it already,,, this is a good way to expand your library.

Squids has released from info on what's included at the 400 mark... Sounds that he's developing for Tony Banks... could be cool...
    http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3045232#3045232

He also mentioned that the extra goodies will be by request only. Personally, I'm on the fence without hearing some demos. I have so many damn "sounds" and sound generators, unless I hear something incredibly unique and useful I'll probably pass.

Here's a few demos. The GB is at 347, so there's a good chance we could get the Banks Bank.

No those links aren't currently working for some reason, even from the original post from Squids. However, I did notice that he now has them available on the group buy page. You can check them out here: http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1975

I have to admit, this is an amazing value.

I think I'm going to be kicking myself later if I don't jump on this for the Ampeg SVX plug + some decent sounds... I have SVX Uno from my Chris Hein Bass purchase, but that's an LE version... I think my wife will forgive me... If not, I will still have the SVX plug for $200!
