I'm a huge fan of trons - but I bought it last summer during a similar sale.

I thought I was buying it mainly for a few typical mellotron sounds, - you know, your basic flutes, violins, choir - but I ended up using stuff like the Optigan loops and fx a whole lot more than the actual trons. For a die-hard fan of old movies soundtracks and such, SampleTron is a gold mine.

Is this a stand alone vst instrument or a library for a sampler?  I've got a freeware Mellotron program but it's 32 bit.

Is this 32 bit as well?

I've had SampleTron for quite awhile and have never found a use for it. It would be just the ticket if you were specifically emulating an early-70's prog rock sound, something I've never undertaken.

Funny, back in the 70's I absolutely loved the sound of a Mellotron in songs like "In the Court of the Crimson King", but today it mostly just grates on my ears (except in that particular song, which has aged well). I've gotten far more mileage out of Martinic's free Vox Continental. He also has a Farfisa, but I haven't used it yet.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I have to agree with Bitflipper. Much as I love some of these  signature sounds of the past, I'm no longer as mesmerized with them as I once was, and now have so much more at my disposal that  -IMO-  transcends these. As I can only spend my dollars in so many finite ways, I must choose carefully when and what to buy, since even 29 dollars here or there leads me away from other more powerful and useful possibilities.

Windows 7 64 bit, Sony Vaio Laptop Q740, 8 GB, Sonar Producer X1d, Focusrite Scarlett 18i, Korg Pa500, M-audio 61 Radium Keystation. Using Omnisphere, Trilian, Komplete 8, Morphestra, Orchestral Essentials, Evolve, Orange Tree Guitars, Addictive Drums, BFD2, Melodyne Editor, Studio One 2, Ozone 5, FabFilter.

I tend to use M-Tron from G-force when I want the true M400 Mellotron sound (yea....I used to own one).  But SampleTron is great for cinematic sound design stuff and interesting textures inside pop and rock productions.  $29 semolians is not a bad price at all.

But MarioD...you should have....you would have gotten the FREE Squibs Tron soundpack.....which was about 850 MB ...that has to be worth the $5 you saved if you bought it at Audio Deluxe (which is one of my favorite places to buy, btw )

The cost isn't bad at all, indeed, Yorolpal. But I am looking at buying Albion [presently $550] when the new release comes out for it's companion library, hoping that it will offer some type of sale for this amazing cinematic orchestral library. I am totally looking for cinematic alternatives, though, as you know, having recently bought Morphestra.

You start with 5 authorizations. To see how many you have left, log in to the IK website and go to Support > User Area > My Products. Unfortunately, you can't reset the authorizations yourself (like you can with Toontrack). When you reach your limit, just e-mail IK support and they'll reset it for you.
