Sandboxing VST plugins

A DAW called Bitwig has a feature that sandboxes VST plugins so they don't crash or lag the system.
This would be a GREAT feature in a future update.
Especially for someone like me who's SONAR crashes 5-7 times per session due to VST plugins (particularly AD2) crashing the program.

I'm pretty sure this has been requested before at some point and it's not a bad idea to add a layer between plugins and SONAR.  Not sure how feasible it is though.

But more important, it may be worthwhile investigating why plugins (such as AD2) are crashing so often - I personally use AD2 in 90% of projects and I don't think it's ever crashed.   And I'm using a Focusrite 18i6 (on Win7) so the interface side is very similar.

Can you not use jBridge to achieve the same?

I experience approximately one crash per day (one day = 2 hours of work with SONAR), I think it's too much. I've not investigated to know why, but my projects are quite big (40 tracks, 15 synths, more than 100 FX). It often happens when I am acting very fast, for example while testing lots of patches or lots of FX settings. Sometimes it happens when starting or stopping a project, or when it reaches a certain point.

As someone says elsewhere, I am now used to typing CTRL+S every time I do a significant change in the project. But I also do this with Word or Excel, because sometimes you've got crashes too.
